I know the majority here are drag racers, but figured I'd throw this up here. Would love to get with some local guys that go to the road courses sometime. Ran the intermediate group last Saturday at Road Atlanta. Here's a couple of vids and a few pics. Audio sux on one of the videos (GoPro Hero cams ain't all they're advertised to be. The guy in the car with me is a friend that got stuck in the novice group so rode along for the last session. I was on Nitto NT-555 street tires with fresh Carbotechs, but ancient rotors. Killed the brake booster at the end of the last session.

The old black hooptie is mine, can't afford the ZR1 or 599GTB Fiorano...

I'm no pro, open to criticism. Thanks.

That looks like fun, but im 100% sure id be backwards into the woods/wall/pit/people, somethin! I cant "limit" myself if racing is involved for some reason. lol

BTW, your car is loud

Love the exhaust and would love a ride in your car on the track. When you get a chance.

Great videos. How much does a track day like that normally cost? Something I would like to do once I can get the money and time

Very nice. One of these days, I will get my car TT legal. I would much rather do that, than run cones.

Back in 85 or so, Tom Cruise was racing one of Newman's 300zx's at an IMSA race there and he went off that uphill right hander. I have a picture of it somewhere. He didn't bend the car up though and I think he kept running after getting back on the track.

I remember seeing this car at the autocross. My wife loves it.

Thanks all for the positive comments. It's ridiculous amounts of fun!

Chris - we gotta get together and head out to the race track. Going to try to get to a Seat Time event at Roebling in Savannah sometime in late January. How goes your project?

There's video of Sheltra's truck putting one on me out at Bowman last summer (actually all afternoon). Fair is fair, you gotta give me a chance at redemption on my playground!

MVP was $250 for the day because it's Road Atlanta. $200 for hotels, $100 for gas, $100 for food, another $100 for beer and easily $150 in rotors and fresh fluids each track day, so it ain't cheap, but the fun is worth it. Just like beating your arch rival at the drag strip, chasing down and passing a 911 GT3 RS is pretty cool (I have video of that if anyone wants to see it!)

Both Roebling and Carolina Motorsports Park run several events a year that are $190 for the day, shorter drive so less gas and only one hotel, less beer, altogether cheaper for the track time. I'll post up here next time I register, always more fun when you're not alone.

This is where my project stands right now.

I should be pulling the motor and getting everything machined in the next few weeks. So I think Ill have to find you another victim for the drag strip because I dont think it would be fair for me to be it after Im done.

Let me know when you plan the next track day and Ill defiantly see if I can make it with you. If the planets align correctly I would like to bring my truck as well......

Sarge,
How much roll cage do they require you to run in the 'Vette? Just curious as I drive mine daily. I also need to find out if I can make '10 GT500 brakes work on my '03. Maybe I can talk Mr. Aeppli into hooking me up with a sweet deal on his take-offs. :D

Shaun,

No roll cages required even in the advanced group. No events that I've been to even require 5 point restraints. Literally the only car prep required is non-cracked rotors, fresh brake fluid and non-dry-rotted tires!

Thanks. Nice. I guess it's time to get my butt in gear, and get the car ready to hold up for longer than a 45 second autocross.
