Last night a stupidly large group of cars (to go race that is) left to go make some runs all at the same time. Thats probably the dumbest thing you can do, but anywho. The second dumb thing they did was go to 526 to race!

I want to say that 8 or 9 cars went to run, and only 3 didnt get pulled and given 6 point reckless driving tickets with $450 fines. Five of North Charleston's finest were literally waiting for them on their way back. Im not going to say any names, but I hope they learned this time not to go to 526. Not to mention that the initial race they left for was a dumb one anyway.

Just thought id throw that out there.

Lucky they didn't get charged with Racing:

SECTION 56-5-1620. Penalties for racing; revocation or suspension of drivers' licenses and registrations.

Any person violating the provisions of Sections 56-5-1590 to 56-5-1620 by driving a motor vehicle shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than two hundred dollars nor more than six hundred dollars or imprisoned for not less than two months nor more than six months, or both, in the discretion of the trial judge. In addition to such penalty the driver of any vehicle who violates the provisions of Sections 56-5-1590 to 56-5-1620 shall upon conviction, entry of a plea of guilty or forfeiture of bail have his driver's license revoked for a period of one year. Any person violating the provisions of Sections 56-5-1590 to 56-5-1620 by acquiescing in or permitting the driving of his car shall, upon conviction, be fined not to exceed one hundred dollars or imprisoned for a period not to exceed thirty days, or both, in the discretion of the court and, in addition thereto, shall have his driver's license and the registration of his vehicle suspended for a period of three months.

So where were the police waiting for them at? K-mart or the opposite side of 526? There was a huge street racing bust in the Hampton roads area of Virginia. A lot of people had their cars impounded and lost their license. The was a big bust in mooresville or hickory N.C. a couple of years ago too. While you wait for your court date they impound your car. Some people didn't get their car back until a year later...

when people hold traffic up in a big group like that, it causes other people on the highway to get pissed. One phone call couldve been all it took....but yes, there are cameras on that bridge. Its just dumb. I learned my lesson about the cameras from the cops too, but they said for us not to do it again.

One of the cars that were pulled over in this wouldnt have happened to be a dark civic hatch? I was on Rivers and 526 that nite and there were about 5-7 cops rolled on a few cars and thats the only one I could make out... Thats one of the risks you take when street racing though...

Cameras with radars on them that are actually monitored?!? Dang the cops dont mess around down here!

they're just traffic cams, you can get on scdot's website and watch them.

unless they use something new like angel dust to measure, my V1 hasn't ever picked anything up going across.

also, they should have already been done by the time they got in view of the first camera. why would anyone want to race UP a bridge?

DolSVT00
01-12-2010, 02:07 PM
About a year ago some of us got "warned" about the bridges. Technicly we were not doing anything more than "slightly speeding" (one of us was in a mini pooper, so there's no way we were racing). I have also had conversation with one or 2 of "N chas finest" and they "know" what some people do on that bridge.

Hopefully only the complete moron's choose that spot in the future.

As for this one....the Virginia bust. If any of yall have been to the naval base up there it was the 564 section heading to the base. They felt the need that they could be like what they do in New York City and shut down a road or even like Fast and the Furious.

There's a 564 and a 464. You're right about 464 being in S. Norfolk. I lived in Chesapeake and pretty much stayed in the Va Beach, Chesapeake, South Norfolk area. I know there were plenty of dumbasses that would race on 64.

We visit Chesapeake pretty much monthly and they have been widening 64 and it's coming along pretty nice. There is alot less traffic in the Battlefield exits of 64

they were widening 64 back in 1990 when i moved up there, in 94 when i left,
and in ~06 when i visited.

too many people moving in too fast = infrastructure overloaded.
