I got a buddy that lives in my apartment complex that said he's going to Unique Tuning to have his Roush Mustang tuned by Mike. I was just wondering if any of you guys know anything about him and his shop. I have yet to find a new tuner and am trying to research anyone in this area. Here's his website...

I don't have one. I got a good tune done right before I left VA, but now that I'll be installing Nitrous I'll need to get a tune for that. Plus I want to transfer my tune from my SCT chip to an XCal 2.

I know Mike pretty well...His is a kind of new buisness. They just got the new dyno in their shop...
He is a sponsor of one of our classes at the monthly Hooter's shows. I talked to him last Saturday.
He has had some problems on the past with an ex-partner that was a crook....Mike has done his best to work thru a bad start.....His shop is very busy, and I have talked to a few people that have used him for tunes, and, seems like the outcomes are good.
Mike told me he is doing a lot of Lightning tunes....
Hope this helps...

Thanks for the info. I'll have to give him a call and see what he's like. His shop is only 40 minutes from me so I might drive down there and check it out...

As much as you have invested in your truck, I would stick with one of the more reputable Lightning tuners... Just my thoughts on it. There is one built motor (JDM) truck here in Charleston, and there are 2 more local guys who just picked up JDM motors this week and will have them up and running soon. We should have three 10 second trucks by this fall.
If you want to drive to a reputable tuner nearby, try AVT (Arthur Todd) who built Ronnie and Woody's trucks. The only thing is that he's about 3 hours away from you.
Another suggestion is let JDM do a mail order setup and go to a dyno here in Charleston (or wherever is close) and check your #'s and A/F. Lightning Mike is running their tunes in his truck with success.

Thanks fellas. I'm probably going to suck up the drive and go see Arthur. Mike emailed me back and told me that he doesn't use SCT software... Even though the SCT logo is on the back of his business cards. All he does is Predator's and Diablos. I like SCT too much.

Arthur is a great paint and body guy as well. He painted my mustang. That's Arthur on the right.

I think that's what Arthur is. 95% paint body & 5% tuner. From the time I spent at his shop it looked like he did both well. He certainly loves Mustangs from looking at the field behind his shop. Looks like he did a fantastic job on your car.

I spoke with Arthur today for about 20 minutes. He seems like a really nice, down to earth kind of guy. He said that he's in the process of rebuilding his shop and it will probably be done in 3-4 months. I spoke with him about my nitrous plans and he gave me some good ideas. I'll most likely be taking my Lightning to him when he gets his new shop up and running.

I went and met Mike at Unique today. He seems like a really nice, knowledgable guy. His shop is kinda small, but it looks like he has everything he needs. He needs a little help to get his showroom in the front finished, but other than that, I may have to take my L down and throw it on the rollers once the nitrous kit is installed.

Ditto with what Shane said...Mike is a good guy. Bill is the one that screwed everything up for Mike and Lucan (other owner) when they first opened. Bill really screwed me and shane hard core and left Mike to pick up the pieces. Mike used to have a HUGE place in the same area but was forced to move to where he is at...and he's admitted the place is to small for them for day one, but they are trying to recover. I wouldnt hesitate giving Mike business...him and lucan are 2 really nice guys...now bill on the other hand...well thats another story

Hello Spencer We have delt with several tuners. Results to me are Keeping the Trucks cars together and making great Power but staying with end the limits of the complete systems. Everyone wants to go fast but not at the expence of a motor. I have been talking to lots of tunners latley trying to fully understand how things change over etc. during a run. I felt JDM has spent Hours of R and D Example Daryl's truck as you know ran two 10.66's the air fuel in High gear with a 4.10 gear turning about 5500 RPMs was dead on 11.2A/F Bill's on the 10.7 run was on 11.5A/F Jim and I have talked about NOS tunes and they regulate there fuel in the Tune as needed. I'm as it stands now Partal to Jim and there crew . But as I have met and seen some others that I trust Example Larry his tunner has worked wonders Aurther Todd. Randy has great Performance with Sal. The part I like about JDM is I think they have done a lot of Rand D to perfect there 's I want a tune that makes the trucks Fly but are safe and as you saw a Jackson We put on a show for heavy trucks. Once Bill gets his 3.4 and I get the Bugs worked out we might even see some 9's HOPE! See Ya Mitch Good Luck
