I hear that you have to hit radials alot harder than slicks...so my question is how hard is hard? Saturday, I tried theM/T 315/60/15's and compared them to a set of hoosier 30/10.5/15's, neither tire hooked that well, but I did a little better 60ft with the radials.I had the suspension a little looser since its still early in the year(cooler and track prep not quite to par yet) but I'm thinking I should tighten it down somewhat. Our trucks being nose heavy are a challenge in itself,so I'm looking for pointers as to what works well with you...such as tire pressue, shock settings etc.

Radial tires like to be hit hard and you have to stay on top of the tire. A slick you can hit hard and the suspension will come back off of it a little after the initial hit and it is still ok.

If you had a mustang I could tell you what to do, but can't help with a truck.

My car is pretty nose heavy, not as bad as your truck, but Hemis are heavy and cuda's have short rears.

I only have single adjustable shocks on the back of mine, it 60 foots the quickest with them set fully stiff. I'm using Cal-Trac suspension.
My front end is loose, 90/10s with almost 6" of suspension travel.
I started with 17.5 psi in my 295-65 radials and worked my way up to 20 psi, it kept getting quicker every time I raised the pressure.

Keep in mind, the track has to be good for my car to hook with the rear shocks set stiff and a lot of pressure in the tires.

This is footbraking.

I started out fighting problems with my car on 29.5x10.5 ET Drags and with 30x12.5 ET Streets. No matter what I did it kept wadding up the tire and wouldn't 60 foot for hell. Threw on the radials and it put air under the front tires.
I may end up trying a stiff sidewall slick this year though. The radials are VERY track prep dependent.

What are you whining about Dayrl? I bet your 60's are as good if not better than most of the guys racing with cars.

I would like to find out what you learn and what works best. Im a little behind the curve compared to you guys.

If they had Kenny Mac's tires, they could remove the springs, shocks, traction bars, and put butter on the track and hook.

Its all about the 60ft and being unfamiliar with the M/T radial i'd rather try and learn from people that use them, then to go thru 2 or 3 sets trying to figure them out...from what I'm hearin,i guess i need to go against the grain of what we've always done and try to put the bitch on the bumper....fat chance of that, but next time out, I'm going to be more aggressive with the launch.....Mike get your wallet ready

The chevelle is really nose heavy. It hooks better with DR's than it ever did with slicks. The car is stiff all the way around. Thats about all I can tell you about the set up. Oh ya I have found it does better with a small burn out. I just look for the tires to start to smoke and Im done.
