Hey Guys. My name is Jay and I've got a couple Lincoln Mark VIII's, a 98 and a 97. The 98 I've had for 6 years now and 97, I've had for about 2. I got the 97 off the local Craigslist for $900 with the intention of parting it out, but I couldn't stand to do it and ended up daily driving it and have put almost 30k miles on it now with no big problems. I've done a bunch of mods to the 98 and it's pretty quick, but I'm sure it won't hang with half the people on this forum.

I've been in the Navy for 9 years and work on the naval weapons station. I've been a part of the Mark VIII forums since I bought my first one in 2002, and thought it might be cool to join a more local forum. Mark VIII's are somewhat rare and there's hardly anyone on the Mark VIII forums that are anywhere near me.

Jay

Welcome! Friend of mine from high school had a black MarkVIII, felt kinda peppy and would roast the tires pretty good.

What a coincidence. I just saw a really nice MKVIII today on Dorchester Rd. I think it was silver. Anyway, it was clean with nice wheels and a drop. That's the first time I've seen one of those in a long, long time. Unique looking cars.

Welcome.

Edit..I guess the model I saw was a MK VII? I thought they were all Mark VIIIs.

Anyways, this is the model I am talking about. Love that body style.

Here's some pictures I took recently of the car. It's currently sitting higher than I normally like it because of the big tires in the back. It's got air ride and I raised it up some to keep the tires from rubbing until I can get the fenders rolled.

Oh, and no, that's not a normal Cobra emblem. It's called a 'Cobrastar' emblem. It's the cobra emblem with the lincoln emblem integrated into it. I don't have any close-up pics of it right now, but I'll get some.

Welcome to town. Where at on the Weapons station? I'm out at NPTU

As far as the car goes, I had a 85 Mark VII for my first car and it killed me to get rid of it. The Mk VIII is a great looking car. Good to see someone straying from the norm

I work at NPTU also. I'm in Shop 38 (Nuke Mechanics) in Repair Dept.
My first car was a Mark VII also. It was an 88 LSC. I loved that car. Got it from my grandma in 97 for $800. That's the car that turned me on to Mark VIII's. Unfortunately, it fell into a deep state of disrepair once I joined the Navy and wasn't able to do anything with it. I had it at my mom's house all the way up until the summer of 2008, when I finally junked it. I hated to see it go. It only had 107k miles on it.

Sounds pretty familiar. I had my Mk VII in high school, paid 500 for it from a family member. Kept it at my mom's after I joined, got it back and didn't have the money to replace the motor (cracked the block). Anyway, I'm out at NPTU, I'm a MM on 635 Crew A. Getting ready to go to Norfolk for some shipyard time. Who would have thought of deploying to the shipyard on shore duty?

haha, yeah, that's pretty crappy. Although, I guess I wouldn't mind too much personally. All my wife's family lives up there, so I would have a free place to live!

Welcome, and nice ride. I like the FR500s on it. Different, but not 'blinged out'. I miss my dad's old Mark VIII. He had a '94 that used to show my old 5.0 ragtop its bumper. He definately did not drive it like some old man's Lincoln. Also had a neighbor with a black '98 LSC. Damn nice cars, I must say.
