I know you guys don't know me very well, but I thought I would share some pics of my new project drag car. I just picked this up yesterday and have a few plans for her.
From a junkyard to the drag strip.

I know she looks rough now but for the price I got it for and with a clean title, I could not ask for much. It's going to be a work in progress.

x2... I am sure Andy will do something LSx related. My vote is for a 632 w/ 3 guns. Kinda like the RCF.

I guess I can post up and answer some of the questions.. Being Andy's partner in speed.. Car will be LS based with a turbo.. Past that we are still planning. Maybe 5.3?? Maybe 6.0?? Depends on what we can find for the right money....Glide or built turbo 400..again depending on what we can find for decent money. Right now the only parts we know we are using is the Moser 12 bolt from Andy's current 00 SS.

Right on brother right on. I have got almost full suspension bolt ons in the rear other than shocks that will grace this car. We plan on starting out with a stock bottomend and getting everything setup then get a good forged LSX bottomend for turning up the wick. First things first though I need to get this thing cleaned up and ready for the build. Going to get me a small work shop in the next week or so to park her under. I will let you guys know how this goes.

Pacesetter LT headers w/ ORY
Hooker catback w/ cutout
Yank SS 4000 stall
built 4l60e
UMI Tunnel mount Torque arm w/ DS loop
UMI Drag Bar
Moser 12 bolt 3.73 w/spool
Spohn LCA
Spohn Panhard bar
UMI LCA relocation brackets
SLP airlid
K&N filter
FAST 92/92 intake and TB

Convo Pro 15x4 skinnies and 15x9 with 26x10-15 MT slicks

Nitrous Outlet 92mm plate kit currently jetted for 100hp shot.
It is going back close to stock. I am taking a lot of stuff off of it to go on the project car. For what is done to the SS it runs pretty good. Best NA time of
1.51 60'
7.14 @ 96.1 1/8
11.19 @120.8 1/4
N20 100 shot
1.46 60'
6.71@101.9 1/8
10.64@125.8 1/4
I know its not the fastest and never will be, but for what I got done the her she runs pretty good to me. Especially for a stock bottomend car.

andy, define your idea of "cheap" for us...
i see the panhard bar hanging back there....
every dream, starts somewhere....
i went an looked at that ~87 corvette in pieces on CL this weekend, it was too much money, for so little parts.
yeah, taking the SS apart to make a full drag car sounds cheaper than buyin all that again
welcome to the forum

I don't plan on cutting to many corners but I also plan to use a lot of what I already have. At first its going to be a stock longblock car until I can get the turbo kit built and the car running around. I want to get the suspension and all set up then get a good shortblock and turn the wick up. I want a good complete 6.0 if I can find it. If not I will get a takeout 5.3. Just looking for something to play around with.

They are both f-body's . Thats about it. That black SS has been to the track and has tires and doesn't have special heads that has been touched with a gold "member"

Greg has more in common with the green one. it's on a flatbed and broken. There is still a difference, the green one will see the track before Greg's will and be faster.

Check out this guys build here in the upstate. He had all of his piping custom made and has about $600 in the piping. Maybe he will be able to help you get started on turbo kit.

As far as the drag bar my car leaves straight and does not twist to the right side. It is not something I wouls want on a DD. It makes the ride very harsh. Other than that I love it it fits with no issues. Sorry for the late post I did not see yours.

Do you drive this car on the street at all? If so, how does that 4000 stall treat ya on the street? Thats what I plan on buying.

I drive it around all the time- ok just when I want to. I only drive my cars on the weekend or maybe 1 night a week. I like the SS4000 stall. It likes to free rev the engine when getting up to speed- IE it holds around 3000 rpm to just ease up to the speed limit. Really lets everyone hear the exhaust. Its is not for the weak mind you because the gas mileage will suffer- a lot. It hits the tires pretty hard at the strip too. I have cut a best of 1.51 60' NA and a 1.46 with the N2O. If you are going to drive it a lot or spray more than 100hp shot N2O I would go with a SS3600 it is a little tamer.
