Something to remember...most gum battles are fought at less than 21 feet....at least that is what my CC weapons instructor sayed...With that being true the little 45 is pretty much a secure carry weapon.

I have even looked at one of those pretty seriously...but, I think I will have a small wheel gun, instead of an auto...

I like my ar-15 alot. Its fun to shoot and the ammo is relatively cheap.

So i would say go for it.

Glocks are the stuff. I don't care to much for that barrel though. I carry a Glock model 33 or a Kahr P-40 Covert. Here is a picture of some of my fun guns.

I did a solid year of research before I bought my AR-15. The Bushmaster fit the bill. I bought my shorty A2 (16" barrel) for around 875$ 3 or 4 years ago. Chambered for 5.56 and chrome-lined 4150 barrel is a standard for these rifles.

AR-15's - If you want mil-spec, go with ABC (Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt).
There is also a difference between rifles chambered for .223 and 5.56mm (yes..a difference).

Now..you can go get some totally custom AR-15s, but those are waay up there in the price. Some of them are just match rifles (SS barrels). They shoot straight as can be, but the trade off is they won't last as long as a chrome-lined 4150 if you like to plink 20-30K rounds. Think of the Match rifles as "hoosiers". Expensive, awesome grip, but you be dumb to daily drive on them.



Either way, you can change the lower/upper receivers on them, so you are not completely "stuck" with whatever rifle you get. If you want to have fun and piece your own rifle together, there is a huge after market for this rifle (as I'm sure you know).

The AR-15 is an awesome rifle to plink with . Ammo is cheap and the sissy recoil allows you to shoot a 1,000 rounds a day with no wear on your shoulder.
