came back from running Neil (he's got to be an Omen) and it wouldn't idle without giving it gas. Then there was a slight tap that sounds like a valve tap of rocker tapping the valve cover above #2. pulled the VC's and everything looks in order so pulled rockers and checked pushrods for trueness. they are all straight. pulled the intake and found the dogbone on #1 was loose and flopping around. the retainer was bent up and no longer holding it down like it should. So pulled head to check piston and everything is all good. fixed the dogbone and now I just need to get 1 impala gasket to reinstall the head and put everything back together to do a compression test. I still have to pull the converter to send it off to PI to be fixed too. So much to do but no time to do it in. :(

I have no problem with Dorchester. Hell of alot closer. Draw backs would be that you don't start racing till 7 and sometimes later, when people have to go to work the next day!

I'd like it to stay at Bowman, but I realize I'm in the minority since I'm not from the Charleston area. Bowman's already a long trip for me, Dorchester would be a little bit further, and they run on sunday right? Sunday isn't good for me..

Even though Dorchester is a lot closer (like 1/3 the distance) to me than Bowman, I still liked going out there for the TDL races. And going to work the next day after Dorchester kind of sucks, as I learned this week  Time easily gets away from you at the track!

Saturdays are great now, & Friday nights at Bowman will be fine too for us after this month.

My experience with Dorchester. When it gets hotter in the summer. Gates open at 6 and you are lucky to start running at 7.30. That is the only draw back. I know it is alot closer, but some have to go to work early in the morning.

Yeah we have to get up early too. This past Sunday I didn't even realize what time it was [9:40] and was like oh shit, we still have to drive back home too. I'm old on the inside lol. That's why I'm still good with Bowman even though Dorchester is a lot closer to us. I can hang around at Bowman til they close on Friday nights or Saturdays and not have to worry about work in the AM. :)

Just for me. A sunday would be better than a friday. Just not sure I could make it out there on time on a friday. By the time I get off work. Go home. Get ready. Then drive all the way out there. It would be a least 8:00 maybe 9.

I kind of agree, but only if Dorchester would start running by 5 P.M.

Anytime that I have been out there during the summer 7 is the normal time they start running.

Even if they start running at 5pm, there is no telling when we will get out of there. They always end up having a car break down and then two hours later and with the staging lanes FULL we might get to run. It's been taking us 2-4 hrs to get through the list twice, letting vehicles cool down and everything. I say stick with Bowmen, they're good people and I'd like to be done before 10pm.

Bowman had the track running 20 minutes after tyler slung gear oil all over it. they started cleaning it as kevin was shoving the axle back in. i was really impressed

really wasn't bitching, just having an opinion. i am taking my car to gearmesh tomorrow to see if we can figure out what is squealing under the hood. if i can find and fix it i was planning on making a callout. just didn't want to make one and not show. i like to be a man of my word, so if i make a call out i want to be able to show. that being said, there is no way i would risk driving all the way to bowman on a sunday and breaking down. i don't have a trailer or access to one either. maybe i am the only one but that is a hell of a long way for a tow. dorchester isn't near as far for me and the tow woudn't be as expensive.
