I was going 64 in a 50. I have a SC license and it happened in GA. Does anyone know how this affects the insurance rates or points on my license? This is my first ticket, so I don't really know how it affects anything.

was it a "speeding" ticket or a "careless operation"?

I got a ticket in GA headin to atlanta and it took points off my liscense. 87 in a 70. Cant remember if the insurance went up or not but it most likely did.
The bad part is it was too far to drive 4 hours to go to court so whatever the ticket say is what you pay. If you take the time to go to court the money you will save by it getting reduced will go on ur gas bill.

I got one years ago headed to Fun Ford in Commerce. I just mailed it in and didn't care about it anymore.. something like 80+in a 70 on the I-state. It was like $80 also.

Yes, it will cost you 4 points on your SC license because GA and SC are members of the Uniform Compact.
Your first 4 pointer will typically raise your insurance premiums but your first 2 pointer should not.
You can always try and call up the court to see if they will reduce it to an under 10mph violation.

91 in a 70 in Augusta. I had a Alabama license and it was also $80 ticket. Got it the day after I got married. Mailed it in and not think twice about it :D

It says the citation is for speeding on the ticket

Nope, it was just on a regular road coming off of the sub base here.

I found something that said GA is one of like 5 states that isn't part of that and doesn't share shit with any other state. That's what I'm hoping is true.
Of course they scheduled the court date after I deploy in August. Do they really need that much time? I understand I was speeding, let me pay the ticket. I just don't want my damn insurance to go up.
BTW, I made E-5 today and got rewarded with this shit. I was coming back from dropping off my uniforms, pretty homo

Isn't there still the option to take a defensive driving class to knock off 4 points? 8 hours on a Saturday, don't remember the cost since it has been over 10 years since I had taken said course. Also handed a copy of the certificate to insurance and rate was reduced as well.

I don't know. The rates never went out. That was my first incident ever. I only have 2 things ever on my record and they both were in 2.2 4 cylinder gm products. :D

Go get a traffic lawyer.
I got a ticket in irdell north carolina, paid a traffic lawyer 60 bucks, he went to court for me. I didnt have to drive back up there. Got the speeding ticket reduced to a non moving violation. No points and doesnt hurt your insurance. I paid a 135 dollar fine and moved on.
About 200 dollars is cheap considering the insurance hikes after a moving violation.

Didnt know about that but Im a little hesitant to submit my social on there. Im currently working with my bank because some how someone got a hold of my personal banking info and used nearly $1k of my money to purchase stupid stuff. Luckily though my bank has been working very well with me to get my money back.

If you are deploying, get a continuance until you get back. I did that once and the cop forgot to show up and the case was dismissed. Reckless driving in NM, could have been 90 days and $1k fine. Was doing 94 in a 55.

Funny!!!
One of them was a charge for $323 to Eharmony.com and $108 for a hot tea maker. Is there anything you need to tell us? Looking for your soul mate and planning on having tea with him?

I guess I'll have to find out how to get a continuance and go to it then. OR see what a traffic lawyer can do for me like Monte C said. I'm not sure though what they can do, I was definitely speeding and I admit to that. I mean, it's my first ANY type of violation since I've been alive. I've never got a warning for a ticket, I was kinda hoping to cash that in

I admitted to the cop i was speeding as well. Doesnt matter. Any decent traffic lawyer can take care of the ticket
I was told that as long as i hadnt gotten any moving violations in that county in the last 2 years he could get the ticket reduced. :bigthumb:
I had a friend of mine get a ticket on a trip once, the speed difference was great enough that his presence was required in court. The court clerks sent him the name and number of a traffic lawyer so he didnt have to come back to the court.

I know AAA lists several driving schools that offer a course so you can reduce your points.
No its not reaction time or deep staging, but it might help someone out who has a lot of points.
Most of the insurance companys accept the schools credits. Bill

Only thing those schools do is keep you from loosing your license if you have too many points against you already. They will not negate you speeding ticket. It will still be on your record for 3 years.

Why take the chance? GA is part of the NRVC according to this judge: http://www.gcba.org/pdf/February%202010%20Super%20Speeder%20Article.pdf

Once again, call the Clerk of Court over there and tell them your predicament. You would be protected by the Soldiers and Sailor Relief Act if you are deployed, but get EVERYTHING in writing including who you talk to.
And, if you need a lawyer I can reach out to someone over there if you tell me where. It won't be $60 though.
Good luck.
