So I'm new here, but I've been a part of some other forums for a bit (LS1Tech, FastGM). I propose that we find somewhere new. Instead of going through all the typing again, here's where I'm at with it.

Take a read and tell me what y'all think if you don't mind.

Nice haha. Is the Best Buy meet a more established, dumbass free meet than SSS?
That's the biggest reason I would like to set something else up.
Is the Best Buy meet a more established, dumbass free meet than SSS?
Established? Not really, only 5-6 people show up.
Dumbass Free? Tyler is there, so no not dumb ass free, but it's better then SSS.

Lol, gotcha, I'll get out there this Friday hopefully and meet some of y'all.
I'm thinking we could combine the meets somewhat. Know what I mean? Bring the people from both meets who wanna get together on a regular or semi-regular basis together. Granted it won't be really big like the Dallas meets I went to, but OK sized.
I'm still kinda in the brainstorming phase, but I'd like to make it a reality if I can get enough people who wanna make it happen. I'm sure Sonic (my current front runner for location) would enjoy the business while we enjoy the safety from police and some idiots. After all, it's harder to do something stupid in a Sonic lot than the wide-open SSS lot. Although we didn't see the cops roll by until the the two TAs started up to compare exhaust sound (I'm guilty:hide:).
Anyways, guys, gimme your thoughts and suggestions. Thanks

I haven't gone out to either spot yet (I hear negative feedback from pretty much everyone about SSS so haven't really tried that.) But I am cool with meeting pretty much anywhere. Earlier then 2100 if possible. I normally have to be up at around 0400-0600 so having things start after 2100 kills me!

I think everyone should SSS at least once. If anything, just for some laughs. Once the Hondas start racing though, it's about time to head out. Unfortunately I haven't found many car meets that accomidate the military schedule. 2100 is a pretty average start time, although earlier will definitely be considered as some days I'm in the same boat as you. Maybe like 1930 or 2000 (730 or 8 for you civilian types haha) and from there, decide what's up. I wanna do some research on some stuff that I don't really wanna talk about publicly on the forum... Never know who's watching.
One thing that pissed me off when I heard it (tangent) is that apparently the cops ran a bust at SSS claiming drugs and all that hoopla. I want to avoid that at all costs. If people wanna do'em, fine. But not in their car around my car. The meet, I think, should be just that. A meeting where we get together, BS for awhile, and maybe split off to do our own thing or maybe a group activity lol.

main reason to go out to SSS is to get races, dont make fun of all the hondas, theres a few up there that wouldnt have a problem putting a stripe down your TA

The car scene around here is not like it used to be, back in the sam's club days the entire parking lot would be full.
And I'll show my age a bit....... But where the baby superstore is on rivers (past sams) and where batteries plus and sonic is on rivers, there used to be a Krystal there that had some nice size meet's. Then it moved over where Moe's is across from Northwoods Mall and the Fes Ctr across from Frankies.
Hell I know I ran into Daryl B, Harry and Jeff H up there in the early 90's. Hell, we even had a Super Shops across from the Saturn dealership back then......
Florida (where I grew up) used to and still does have a huge car scene, and most of them are in parking garages or sonic's because the cops really can't run you off as long as a couple people are patrons and buy a drink or two......... Krystal used to be like that and they stay open late, our problem is were just too unorganized unlike the larger cities and most of the old school knowledge is gone. That and there aren't any locations like sonic that are positioned in an area that could hold the overflow like the area's in Florida.
Here's a couple video's from last year when I went down to visit. They race inbetween jurisdictions the only ones that come out there are troopers, the local police woln't come out there.

Not too defined around here, to my knowledge they can impound your car and fine you big time.
Although after being here for a while and seeing quite a few racing in stupid places and getting caught, its usually just a big fine.
Ask slowgreen99 he gets tickets for street racing when he's not even actually racing lol.

1998ta__1991rs: I agree completely. Those aren't the guys I'm talking about, I don't think at least. From what I've seen, the really modded 4's have a pretty deep sound, unlike the ones that just have a muffler. There were 2 or three the other night that took a right outta SSS and immediately hit it. I heard weedeaters, nothing serious.
DolSVT00: Texas was pretty similar, although I can only imagine the sexiness of some of the cars out in Florida. Texas meets, at least Dallas area, really only had domestics and a few nice European cars. That said, I don't think that here in Charleston, SC, there are too many people to cause a huge overcrowding issue.
Dride76: I'll look in to the outlets today and see if there are any places out there that could do something like this. The one place that comes to mind right away in Buffalo Wild Wings. Small parking lot, but there's plenty around. I just think it's kind of a far drive for those coming from the Summerville area. However, maybe those guys won't mind too much. Summerville guys?
Carlrx7: That's part of what I want to look in to as well, a lesser known and traveled place to have some "group events"

I had no idea there was a wednsday scene... Well then, I'll get on that. Where do the wednsday guys meet? The sonic on 78 by CSU is te one I was looking at. Even though they don't have public restrooms, maybe we could work something out with them. I'm not sure how inconvenient it is to use a restroom in sonic. There was a CVS beside the one I went to in Dallas. I'll go do a little research today at the sonic on 78, the tanger area, and any place I roll by that looks like it could be a promising location. The more I get input and think about it though, I'm not sure Sonic is my favorite for the new location anymore. We'll see.
I'm Brett btw. I figure if I'm trying to organize something, people outta know my name at least.
Again, thanks for the input, keep it coming!

Heres how we did racing and little gatherings in NORCAL :)
http://www.youtube.com/user/deanh8?blend=2&ob=4
Some pretty good vids in there...
And here is an example of the gatherings we would have. This is just the NORCAL Fords meet. Normally we would get a few other forums/groups in the mix and have a much larger turnout... FYI some may want to mute as the music in the Bay area is a little different then out here haha (good little side show at the 5:15 mark)

Back on the subject though if ya ever want someone to roll around and check out some spots let me know. Rolling around and checking out possible spots and working with companies about allowing a meet and greet at there establishment is always a good time!

Those were the good ole days for sure! I can honestly say I have passed Sam's at 120 plus in the car with harry, and passed a car in the grass racing in front of Trident Tech with Jeff H. Can't have that kind of fun anymore, way too expensive if you get caught. That being said, I am in for a meeting place away from SSS. I have to admit, I think the lagit imports that run, are pretty cool, as I use to race a Dodge Omni GLH turbo back in the day, but the weed eater cars and trucks dragging across the parking lot are junk..:bigthumb:

Ive been "busted" twice for street "racing" if you can call it that. The first one was definitely me being a dumbass and actually racing, and it sucked big time. The second one was a 45-60 pull in a stock dodge ram 4 door in a 50mph zone, but I was messin with a Tundra at the time and we were being "reckless". I know peoples opinions on that is -you were being reckless-, but I really dont care about what peoples views are on it, and its over and done with.
All in all, they were both the same penalty...6 points, reckless driving, $375, 1 year suspension (optional) and impound (optional)..luckily I got off with neither of the last two penalties.
The SSS scene is lame as hell but im there almost every Saturday to get some (legal) racing going. The car scene has fallen apart here, but oh well. I dont think one particular location will make that big of a difference on the number of people who show. If people wanted to hang, theyd drive to SSS or Best Buy. No one can bitch about how far it is, because I live in Jedburg, Harry lives out this way, Zac lives in West Ashley, yet were pretty much always there.
Anywho, im tired now.
Turtle64b

I agree with the relative lameness of the SSS meets. I was just hoping to get something together that is a little more off the radar of the police. Maybe find a few spots we can cruise to and things like that. I'm heading out to look now. More details/comments when I return.

I am all for a trying to revive Best Buy as an option. Up there we have the A-OK from Best Buy and from Azalea Square to be up there, under the conditions that we behave. I am also open for other ideas on what we can do.

the bestbuy option still seems to be about the best one, we have permission, it no further than 30 min from anywhere (i live in west ashley and if i go up 61 it only takes me about 20 min). If i can drive my th400 car up there with no heat, and if ray can drive the challenger out there no problem, i dont want to hear anyone bitching about it being too far.

Well, after scouting a bit, the Azalea Square area is definitely good especially since we have the green light from the right people. The Tanger area would be pretty cool as well, since it's a lot like the Azalea Square area. The sonic on 78 would be good for a small meet since they only have about 25 stalls. No complaints from me on distance and I live five miles from Folly.
All things considered, I think the Best Buy is the place lol. Maybe sometime in the future we'll think of some ideas. Until then, I look forward to seeing y'all there this Friday.

I will say that of all the Lowcountry police departments Summerville PD is the easiest for me deal with.
So if people don't act foolish and they congregate peacefully there should not be any problems.

What alot of people don't realize is all the moving from spot to spot and getting run off is what has disorganized the entire scene, most people just don't want to bother with it anymore.

I can't really make fun of people for burnouts. A loss of traction scares the shit outta me, almost literally lol. Simply because every time it happens, something winds up in my way. I lost a 2003 Tiburon in '06 to a tree thanks to small town construction where they turned a road into straight gravel and a 2002 CETA to a telephone pole/concrete wall tag-team back in '07 due to bad bad weather. Almost lost this one when I lost traction on a strip one night. The scar still remains... I'm trying to work through my fears though... Maybe one day I'll be able to burn out like the big boys lol

Funny guys! Yes my car will do a burn out, thanks to the SFC's Bad Bob installed a few month ago. They give good pleasing power.
On a serious note, I will not be able to attend 99% of friday meets considering I work till 12am or later. Then again, there are a few Fridays that I actually get out early. It is much easier for me to make it out on Saturdays, espescially since I am not taking summer courses.
Jeff, my car was out the night you and I spoke at SSS... it was just hiding from everyone else who has 3 time the HP I do. :hide:
