Well, finally got the Truck back today.
Had some stage II heads put on after I blew a plug out last Nov. I took it to a local Autoshop that was recommended by a friend.
I dropped it off there on the 16th of May. took them 4 weeks to swap the heads - I did have them put some Lock-n-Stitch inserts in though(I was a little paraniod of blowing out another plug) and they had to send the heads out for that.
In the end it cost me $3,000 and I supplied the heads, gaskets, studs, spark plugs, and new COP's.
Total for Head Swap - $3,000 + $1,600 = $4600
I can help but feeling that I got raped on this.
I figured I could have done it in about a week (less the inserts).
What do you all think?
Anyway, I am still happy to have the L back home,
Going to install the SBTB, CAI, and 160 stat tomorrow. I need to get a tune before I tackle the 6LBer. Probably have to wait until next month for that.

You could have installed the time certs yourself and would like to think people here would have lent you a hand and knocked this out. That much money buys ALOT of beer... Trust me when I say, you have not gotten ripped off any where close to where I have. Good luck with the new heads.-Shane

Unfortunately it looks like he's from Greenville. If he was local I know the guys here would have been able to save him money. It might have been used towards beer but at least then he would have been able to partake in the bev's too.

Thanx Guys,
Yes I am from Greenville, and unfortunately I started that mess juat before I started reading the Forums religously.
Not so happy about all that Cash, but that what happens when you jump in head first without seeing how deep the water is.
Anyway, the shop is called Berts Automotive in Duncan, SC.
So far I don't have any complaints with the work, but I have only driven it about 30 miles.
Need to run out this tank of gas thats been in there since November, then put in a new tune and see what's up.
I'll post more after I feel out the situation.

Having ones vehicle back is a great feeling to have after a break down... Writing the check to get it back is not such a nice feeling!
Back in Cali with my old 85 carbed 351W Notch the head gasket blew so I decided to see about taking it to a shop as I was in the process of moving... Figured while the heads were off I would just replace them too. Shop quoted 1700 to replace the head gasket alone or 2600 to replace the heads too! Needless to say I parked it till I was done moving and just did the "buddies and beer" auto shop in the front yard under the shade tree.
Inflation is a mother F'er....

If the girl in the avatar is at the party I do not think it will be hard to find people to join her, I mean you.
