Ray Hofman of Hofman Motorsports Sets New World Record in the Standing Mile

April 25, 2010

This afternoon, Ray Hofman, President and CEO of Peak Completion Technologies, Inc. from Midland Texas, piloted his 2006 Ford GT to a top speed of 266.9 miles per hour from a standing start in the measured mile at the Exotics Rally held at the Dade-Collier Airport in Florida, besting the previous world record by over 10 miles per hour. RayÔÇÖs yellow Ford GT was equipped with its standard 6-speed manual transmission, stock engine block and heads, and its original stock body with no aerodynamic modifications other than removing the rear view mirrors.

Performance modifications to the Hofman Motorsports Ford GT included a custom twin turbo system designed and built by the team at Heffner Performance, engine internal work by John Mihovetz and his crew at Accufab Racing, and tuning & electrical system by Naoto Negishi and Brian Sakata of Sakata Motorsport.

Traveling over 1/3 the speed of sound in a street legal production car equipped with air conditioning, stereo sound system, and power windows and locks was unimaginable just a few years ago. HofmanÔÇÖs record setting run was made into a direct 18 mph headwind, on a day with both high temperatures and high humidity. Hofman Motorsports has developed a host of future improvements to their Ford GT and will be running again at the Texas Mile in October."

Ray is a good guy and very humble about his success.

Unlike those idiots at PPR.
