My daughter thought she might have an allignment issue so she went over to Geralds. They said it was the shocks & struts and to do the job for the front only was going to be $550 and to do the entire car over 1100.

It has been a long time since I had to replace any struts or shocks and don't know if this sounds right or not, plus it is a basic little car with high mileage, I think 87k or more.

I don't know what was actually said, I just returned from working on Hilton Head and now my daughter is at her job. Do any of you know if this sounds right, or know a place or person that would do it for less if I get all the necessary parts?

Thanks.

Never EVER bring a car to Geralds. I am almost willing to bet that it was the Geralds on Dorchester, right?

I bet you could do the job for a 1/4 of that.

That was the one she went to. Guess I'll be pricing parts tomorrow.

If you get into it and its too much call Eric Fontaine. 843-324 4724

I dont think Gerald works on cars like these, if he does try him as well.

How many miles are on this Suzuki? Usually, the only need to replace shocks or struts is when the oil leaks out of them. You can look at your struts and shock bodies to see if they are wet down the sides as an indicator of leakage. A lot of times, front struts just need the upper rubber mounts instead of the whole strut. If the upper strut mounts are worn, they give you a rattling sound from the front end when going over little bumps.

:hysterical: I have one of those sitting in my driveway with a blown head gasket and who knows what else. I remember pricing brake parts for it once and couldn't believe the price for parts. I'm sure it is a high estimate but wouldn't be surprised at the cost of the parts.

you can check with Masterbend or even have her bring it by so we can test drive it and see what the issue is. we should be able to beat that price with no problem. Shop number is 871 1465

The mileage is 89985, so I guess just the normal wear and tear. It was bought used and I am sure no parts have been replaced as of yet for the normal wear and tear.

Thanks guys for all the responses.

I just did the basic bounce the car at each fender-well, to see when it stops bouncing, and it seemed to stop right away, which to me means the shocks are fine.

Bad Bob I'll call your shop today, if y'all are open, maybe around 11 or so. I have some other things, and more work stuff just popped in as well.
