the 2 classes will be defined by how it gets to the track. if it comes on a trailer it will be extreme street class. this was someone else's idea and i thought it was a good one. 2 classes should speed up the whole process

some other topics of discussion will be:

to ease some of the rules for extreme street.

kick in a small fee each race for a large payout at the end

driver/owner doesnt have to be the same

change the way the final Top Dog Race is run. its has been suggested by several members to run a ladder system on the final race. I also think this would be a great idea

a set time between races to allow for cooldowns

there maybe other stuff to???

1iron
01-19-2011, 02:40 PM
I will race whatever the rules are. Cooldowns? Street cars should be able to hot lap. Taged and insured.

And stock fuel line.

If you and your car can participate in this without breaking down and blowing up on pump gas then you can be in the street car class.

I guess ill wait til the 22nd and find out the scoop, cause if the only basis in the classes are drive to the track on pump gas, or trailer to the track on what ever fuel, then thats easy. I mean me, Kenny, Paul, Harry, and Robert can drive to the track and race on 93 or E85, just requires a little adjustment in timing. I don't really care what the cars are or who ownes them, I think Robert is trying to find out some refined rules, to see where his car fits in. I don't care if he has a friend trailer Trixie so he can drive it in the trailer class, and he drives the black car to run in the street class, as long as he pays his money, I welcome it. I think there has to be more criteria then wether you drive it and what fuel you run. That can be several things, treaded drag radials only, no slicks, tire size restrictions in the street class, ect. In NMRA True Street we have to be D.O.T. legal for our state of residence, and S.C. is easy, due to no emissions checks. All D.O.T. equipment must function, headlights, blinkers, horn, full interior, including front and rear seats. Fiberglass hoods allowed, all other body parts are OEM steel or fiberglass in Corvettes. Full exhaust, turn downs allowed. Wheel tubs prohibited. Rear suspension in stock locations, after market trailing arms allowed, coil overs allowed, 4 links and ladder bars prohibited. Tire sizing, drag radials limited to 325/50 max width, ET street style tires (Looks like slicks with grooves) 10.6" max tread width. Thats some of the rules I have in my NMRA class. Sorry about the rant, just my 2 cents..:bigthumb:

i didnt plan on expanding the rules or really adding more.

2 classes, since we would be working off 2 lists the races will go faster. if you drive out there like Carl or Chris did every race then be in Real Street.

For the more finiky and more likely to twist something into a pretzel cars that come on a trailer than it would be Extreme Street.

It makes no difference to me at all what class anyone chooses to be in. I'm looking for more car count. limiting suspensions, tire size, color carpet will only reduce it

Thats fine with me, but that is going to discourage Real Street as you call it. The reason I say that is just prepare to have low 6 second to high 5 second cars in real street, driving in the gate every week to run with the 7 and 8 second cars.

But, I hate to be put up against a true race car just because I have a tow rig and a trailer and can tow my junk to the track? It ain't no fun sitting at the track with a broken car or truck wondering how the hell am I gonna get this thing home?

My car will be trailered no matter where we run period. So I will be in the extreme street class. Maybe to level the playing field, we can run the races bracket style. Make a qualifying pass, put your dial in on the tree, and make the faster car work for the win.

I can drive it all the ways there but I just don't like the thought of not having the trailer nearby. I could let anybody ride in it. All I got is a mid 10 sec car. Stock shortblock with heads and cam. I do have a stiff suspension as its got a drag bar that makes the ride rough. I just like to drag race and this is a forum full of local dragracers.

If you're good with the small fee, I'll drag that car home. I'm not sure how to get it on the trailer though.

Lots of wood, or if we are at chessa, we can make a ramp out of all the beer cans.

I am not interested in the bracket racing idea. Other than that I dont care. If I have to race a BB chassis car on tires the size of Fred Flintstone's that's fine. I will show up with a sb on spray and 275's. Come get some.

I'm not sure but I feel like you were targeting me!:cheers

i will drive it in the street untill it runs out of gas, then fill it back up again, and keep going

Then you can race in the street car class. :bigthumb:

Whats the point? I can do it in the LTD on 93 octane. Cool..:bigthumb:

Same goes for you. :bigthumb:

he thinks if its fast you cant drive it in the street. I do it all the time

I never said that so please dont put words in my mouth. If you dont want to be in the street car class say so and enter your car in the extreme class if thats what makes you happy. http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif

My whole point was the classes being seperated by wether you drive in the gate or trailer it in the gate. Just wanted to see it more fair for everyone in the classes to make for closer racing. But I don't have time to do the Top Dog coordinator job, so i'll shut up, and wait to hear the final decision, before choosing my class..:bigthumb:

there is an advantage for being in the extreme class, you can still choose to drive and get an extra callout so you can either move up faster, or move up just in case you get a loss. also you get a win credit in that class if you drive

in real street its one and done unless ofcourse your defending the number 1 spot

No thanks. Lol. You are doing a GREAT job running this deal. And we appreciate it!

But, I hate to be put up against a true race car just because I have a tow rig and a trailer and can tow my junk to the track? It ain't no fun sitting at the track with a broken car or truck wondering how the hell am I gonna get this thing home?

Ask me how I know. I broke the input shaft in my Dodge for the third time at Dorchester a while back, had the wife and boy with me and no way home. Kinda sucked..

Besides aint nothing "extreme" about my car lol

My car will be trailered no matter where we run period. So I will be in the extreme street class. Maybe to level the playing field, we can run the races bracket style. Make a qualifying pass, put your dial in on the tree, and make the faster car work for the win.

I Like the ladder Idea... show up qualify then put us on a ladder... No call outs no nothing

show up run way ya brung

Exactly! My son has his license now, and he had been driving my blue Mustang I got from Jeff for the last couple of years, and he is pretty good on the tree. I was going to enter him in the street class and i would run the LTD in the extreme class. But what is the use to enter my son in a class seperated by a car trailer. He runs 7's in the Mustang, against a car that runs 5's or 6.0's, because there are no rules to keep those kind of cars out of the street driven class. why bother? I would not enter the LTD in the drive in class, all though nothing is stopping me according to the rules, but there are people who have no morals that would take the easy wins.

STREET CLASS RULES

1.Drive in the gate
2.No Slicks
3.No Roll "Cage"
4.Tags and Insured
5.Any Power Adders Allowed
5.5 Stock Suspension or Ladder Bar
6.Compression Tree
7.Heads Up
8.Two Qualifying Passes run off ladder
9.1. Qualifier gets Bye
10. Faster car gets lane choice

Extreme Street
1.Get car to the track the best way you know how
2.Any Tire Rule
3.Roll Cage, Funny Car Cage, No cage Is allowed
4.Tags and insured it dont matter
5. All Power Adders Allowed (Run Wat Ya Brung)
6.Pro Tree
7.Heads Up
8.Ladder Sheet
9.#1 qualifier gets bye
10. faster car gets lane choice

Everybody put in 20 t0 50 bucks in

"Red Light you loose
cross center line you loose
you Get Gapt You loose"
(quoting stevie jackson)

i think this would be exciting not only for us competing, but for the fans also, and thats what its really all about is the fans.

Then we dont got to worry about how many spots you got to call out or who wont be there then you got so many call outs if you fart wrong and so on...

the above is why i didnt participate

100 show up points
25 points for rounds won
75 points for second
100 points for a win

most points at the end is the new top dog

just some good heads up racing!

If I have to run xtreme street so be it, I don't care cause its all in fun. I do drive and race on 93, and run street tires (drag radials). My only reason for towing rather then driving to the track is because I have already busted one rear end apart! I hope to never have that happen again but I'm not driving that far and hard with out a little security.

This is what i think should happen

STREET CLASS RULES

1.Drive in the gate

2.No Slicks - A lot of the street cars/truck run slicks on a regular basis at the track. I used to run slicks only on my truck. Does that mean if I still had slicks I would either be in the extreme class or not be included in the TDL?

3.No Roll "Cage" - This idea is a little silly IMHO. If you meet all the criteria of this class and have a cage because you run quicker than an 11.49 youd have to be in the extreme class because you value safety. So a guy can run 4's in the 1/8 and as long as he meets all the rules and doesnt have a cage he can run in the street class but as soon as he adds a cage and makes no other changes hes in the extreme class?

4.Tags and Insured

You ever try racing a 600 rwhp truck on 28x10x16? Not to many decent DR's in that size until recently. Slicks were the norm unless you moved up to a 30" tire on a 15" rim which was expensive and requires modification to the brakes. No weight over the rears is a killer.

why not put a limit on how fast you can run in the street class. just for numbers sake say 7.0 if you run faster than that you loose. that would keep street cars honest and make fast cars race each other. 7 is just a number i used, any number that people vote on can work.

there will be no trailering a car to someones house and unloading it and driving a few miles to the track. ( with the exception of guys in the Myrtle Beach area) I have been all over the country in a car that will run in the 4s and drive 500 miles a day to the next track so saying a car 7.0 is a real street car is a no go for me. Mike, Slow04, Richard Head drive to the track and run far below that number in a truck.

I really dont understand what the problem is? If you have a car that can drive to the track from your house then i feel their is no reason they should not be allowed in real street. This is all about street cars

Extreme Street, will be for guys that feel the need to argue with me about the importance of a passenger seat, carpet, rides to the track on a trailer, needs to let their car cool down far longer than i think a "street car" should need. not to mention you will recieve a win credit and extra callout if you do drive

the rule about the owner/driver is not about Kenny putting Jody in his car. Its about Shawn/Sean<sp? bringing Snipes car to the track. I like Shawn/Sean and he probably works on that car more then most of us work on our own. And I think it would make for another good car and member in the series

The attendence for the real street cars fell off and could be for a few reasons, guys sold their rides being a major reason and maybe once the faster cars made their way up the list it wasnt fun for them anymore but I do know that when the Hal's, Morey, Rob and Tara and a few others were there it was a blast.

So I would like the real street class to work. i'm not going to put tire restrictions on it or a whole bunch of other rules. If it drives from the house to the track its good enough to me. Also, that 4 sec car i rode in at Drag Week in 06 and 08 doesnt need to turn down his timing or run E85 like its been mentioned

None of these rules are to benefit me or my cars or any other perticular person here(except for maybe Shawn or Myrtle Beach guys). Its so much work keeping track of everything that I cannot really focus on my cars on Top Dog days. plus both are in pieces anyway

7.012 @ 108 on skreet tires 1.9 60ft :barf:. putting together a drag pack, skinnie's with slicks out back. just put all new suspension in. that combo should get me 1.4 60ft if i can figure out how to launch the damn thing.. new clutch (rated 980ft/lbs) and a line lock are on the way as well.

but like i said, its just my 2011 goal. after i hit the 6.30 mark (if). i will upgrade the fuel system, go e85 and pully down to bump the boost to 15psi and hope to get into the 9's (9.99) is good enough for me.. my dad use to drag race when he was my age and the fastest he ever went was 10.00. then he had me and never got the chance to get into the 9's himself.

If it runs 6.30 it will run a 9.XX. If it hooks you will lose a little mph. I have run a bunch of 6.3X's in the 108's. You should be very close either way. Sounds like fun. Good Luck.

Ray,

I think you do a good job at running this top dog. I liked the idea of bracket/index style racing so the faster car has to work for the win. It's not very fun killing some other car that's 2 seconds slower. I like heads-up when the cars are alot closer together. But anyways, it makes you work on your reaction time. If your good on the tree, then maybe you will win if you don't break-out!:miss:

You might have insight to maybe 3 of those years. Real friends don't talk about what you have done for them but more of what there friends have done for them.
