Its not just you the track key modifies the cam timing, ignition timing, tune and some suspension and traction control parameters.

So the track key is like getting a tune on the regular 5.0 for $$$$$ more. I know its got better suspension. But could the same be acomplished with say a flip chip with the tune. If so it would be neat.

No the boss puts out 30 more hp than the gt stock vs stock with the regular key because it has a different intake and different cams. The boss also come with forged internals whereas the gt has powder rods. The hp difference between a stock gt and a boss is sure to grow when the trackey is used.

How do you know that? I dont think any official numbers have been released with the trackey in use. Also I wouldnt be surprised if the boss is lighter than the gt.

Thats the one I want or a California Special. Prefer the Boss 302, but you know Ford. It will be limited production and probably cost more then the Shelby GT500. If I get lucky and get one cheap, I promise mine will see the drag strip..:bigthumb:

you are rite, but i doubt you will see much difference between the 800 bucks i spent on mods and the 8,000-10,000 that it costs for the extra boss version. but i dont disagree with you one bit, just saying you can buy the stock gt and buy head/cam package, intake, full exhaust, tune, gear, suspension for less. BUUUUUUUTTTTTTT, that turnkey is pretty cool and if i had unlimited funds or more money than i do now i would definatley buy the boss:cheers

Dont know but I sure hope Buckner buys a boss so we can compare apples to apples on the track. :cheers
Plus you can do all the thing you mentioned to the boss and throw more boost at it than the gt because of the forged internals.

you are right. i am actually looking at the forged internals for my car and so far have found a couple kits that are no more than a grand, so that may be in the near future for me. After my new toy is finished :)

Trac KeyTwo different keys, two different
personalities. One has a silver Boss logo, the other a red logo. Either will start the 2012 Mustang Boss 302. The silver key dlivers 444 ponies worth of smooth, ÔÇ£streetableÔÇØ driving joy. Or choose the red TracKey and unlock a
competition-ready track car.
Key Features
ÔÇó Optional TracKey PCM (Powertrain Control Module) software,
available exclusively to 2012 Boss 302 owners and installed by
an authorized Ford dealer after a customer takes delivery
ÔÇó TracKey adjusts variable cam timing, spark maps, engine braking,
fuel control and other engine parameters ÔÇô more than 200 in
total ÔÇô to provide a complete race car calibration
ÔÇó With the red key in use, TracKey delivers an agressive, race-bred
driving experience all the way down to the lopey idle rumbling
through the Boss quad exhaust
Key Benefits
ÔÇó When the red TracKey is removed and the vehicle is started
with the standard silver key, the PCM settings are automatically
drawn from the factory Boss 302 settings
ÔÇó TracKey is a huge advantage over aftermarket tuning chips and
PCM reprogramming
ÔÇó Extra convenience for enthusiasts wanting all-out performance
at the track but stock driveability for the journey there and back

IIRC, I think I heard that the TracKey is going to be about $495. And... A Boss 302 is only a couple of grand over a Brembo GT. I think it's around $40K. Will know in a month, or so, when our pair shows up.

If I had one, the regular keys would never see the outside of the glove box.

Here is a silly question. If you mainly use the trackey, and something happens, will it void the warranty? Think GTR, if you use the race mode it voids it. And how many people had their warranties voided with the Evolution due to road racing it with the membership you got upon purchase? I know those are import auto makers, but something tells me that in this economy Domestic car makers will do the same thing. And they need to say what the power numbers are with the trackey. My guess is going to only be maybe 15 max.
