Well if you have a leak. The best way is to weld it. Those over the counter epoxy is a temp fix.

Im kinda leaning more toward having someone else do it for me. I was reading directions for por-15 tank sealer and it is a 4 step and 5-7 day process. But Ill keep you in mind if that doesnt pan out.

The way the factory seam is, and since he already put gas in it it will be near impossible to weld.

The leak is down the factory side seam where the top and bottom halves are rolled together and seam welded.

This may work Chris if it is not too hard to apply. All you need is something along the sides where the edges were rolled together from the factory and resistance welded.

Unless they started making stock shaped fuel cells I doubt that will happen.

I bought some of this and have used it but since using it I have learned that it may not work well when using leaded race gases. Other than this possible problem the stuff worked great.

I just talked to one of their chemist Brian and it seems that the leaded race fuels are what causes problems with the Red Kote. What he told me is having race fuel in the tank sealed with Red Kote for a few hours at a time will not cause any problems but if you were to store leaded race gases in a tank sealed with Red Kote for long periods of time it may cause issues.

They are going to send me a test and so I cant test the affects on the coating over the next 3 months. I was asked to report my finding back to them and will do the same here.

The way you use it, it will be fine IMHO. I probably wouldnt coat a drum of c16 with it and store it for 3 months but swapping to race fuel at the track , then swapping to pump gas for the way back will most likely not cause issues.

Besides if there are issues, when you drain the tank, after using it the first time, you will know.

Kinda what the chemist and myself thought during our discussions but it wont hurt to test it out. :bigthumb:

Got the test can today and just put some C16 in it and sat it on the shelf for one month.
