anyone ever have them go bad? if they were to go bad would it cause the brake caliper to rub against the wheel?

i've got my 10 inch pro stars with 7.5 backspacing and no spacer.. in over 3 years i haven't had an issue with them rubbing but in the last week or 2 i have noticed them rubbing... would the axle bearings going bad cause this? what could cause it?

i don't get vibrations driving down the road at 65.
there is no play in the wheel when i have it lifted in the air.
caliper bolts look and felt fine
pads are about half life at least and haven't been touched in years

any ideas? thanks.

Only thing I can think of is the axle walking in and out of the bearing. Both sides or just one?

It's both sides, I think passenger side is slightly worse though. Also that's what I'm possibly thinking but I feel like it would have some sort of play, I've romped on it in the past few days without issues but when I turn at low speeds I hear it grind

Correct

Mine did the same thing once my calipers got worn down... 10-bolt though.

Really? You mean once the pads got worn down? So the brake piston pulled the caliper towards the wheel instead of towards the center of the car?

Yes put new pads on and stfu

And after that, put a line-lock in. Brake stands are bad for pads.

aight i just want to make sure it isn't the axle bearings, but i haven't had a chance to take off the rotors and look.

for those of you knowledgeable folks, what are signs to look for if it were my axle bearings? i probably won't be able to take it apart until saturday to see what is going on..

it might be, but before i go launched out of the hole on a 200 shot i want to make sure i don't fuck anything up.

This is odd for sure. Most axle bearing will make a roar when they go bad.

i have some rear end noise but it isn't really a roar, it only happens when giving gas or cruising, if i let off it immediately stops. unfortunately since i had open exhaust for ever i have no clue how long the noise has been there. i also have no leaking or fluid around the end of the axle housing.
