I guess some dirty SOB decided he wanted to buy a 664.97$ plane ticket on British Airways using my check card..................................... And as if that wasn't enough, the greedy turd decided he wanted to pay his 19.97$ baggage claim with it too.......................

What a big hassle, wait on hold for an hour with the bank to cancel the check card that has never left my back pocket and file a claim to try and get my money back........

With Mine, the guy called in an order to an Italian Restaurant on Dorchester road. Told the waitress his cousin was picking the food up, so they gave the CC number over the phone. They spent 80 dollars for one meal. The owner of the restaurant told me just have the bank call because she remembered the description of the person who picked up the food.

I think someplace that I used the card wrote down the number and exp date, and used it that way.

My bank gave me a Case #, and said they were pursuing it. I never heard anything back. It's only 80.00 so I doubt their pursuit lasted very long.

That sucks.

My parents had that happen recently. The guy who stole the card number bought $1400 in rims and tires from a place in Maryland along with a few other little things. They found out about it when their mortgage check bounced (luckily their mortgage co will cover the first two bounces of a payment without penalty). My dad got the info from the bank on the purchases and called the guy in MD with the rim shop who canceled the shipment on UPS. Dont know what ever happened on charges against the guy who used the card, but the bank gave my dad his name and address.

You and me both. I don't even have a debit card. Both my credit cards have very low limits on them, as I only use them for convenience and pay them off completely most every month, if I even used them. As the gubbmint gets even more invasive, I try to limit using the cards at all. To top all that off, I am a die hard LifeLock member.

Did you know big brother knows more about you than you ever imagined just by tracking your electronic money transactions? They know your spending amounts and habits, and where you have been at what time. All this electronic money changing is eventually going to make most of the populace a financial slave to the state. Beware these modern "conveniences".

Damn that sucks, some guy tried to buy $2k worth of smart phones last year in my name. Luckily Verizon thought it was shady and blocked the transaction and gave me a call.

My mom's debit card numbers were taken as well......

Its pretty notorious at Chinese buffet's......I recall an old live 5 news undercover thingy about it back a few years ago.

They basically swipe your card once to pay for the meal, and then below that swiper is another reader. Then all they need is a black magnetic stripe card, put all info onto it.

Kinda sucks because I hear a lot of CC's and soon debit cards will be RFID.......which will be so easier than magnetic strips

I normally swap out debit cards every 2-3 months just for kicks.

You never know
