Can any of you tell me where the 88-75 building is? Is it in summerville or is it out by the airport?
I know they have one going up in Sville (well up ladson road where Cummins is)

the 88-19, 88-20, and 88-30 are what's at the airport, not sure where the 75 is. They are leasing alot of buildings in North Charleston so it could be on of those too. Do you have to go there for something?

Something like that................Just trying to get as much info as I can. I've got a good job, but money talks and they've got it.

Ya, off-site thanks.
It is a management position they've offered me. I knew that, but I had hoped it was where the action was.

That's about 300 yards from where I work, it's a good location, right off of 526. And I wish I could get in there, I've applied for about 30 positions there in the last 6 months and so far no luck.

I've turned them down because the money wasn't right about 4 times now.
They got it right now though, its a generous offer.....................

Yeah its a great location until you try to go home. You have two choices when on 526 either try to merge onto 26 and wait in that parking lot for a while or go straight and hit North Rhett to get home and even that is a pain in the ass.

True, 526 towards Mt. P. usually isn't too bad though, I live off Rivers so I have to take the Rivers exit or take 26, both of which are miserable.

Hate to hear that....... Keep trying.....
I have a skillset and experience thats pretty high demand, mainly because most of the old schoolers are dying off and not many people want to do the grunt work in the begining to get where I am now.

The wonders of the internal Boeing intranet.
And regardless of shift, you will be limited traffic for shift start and end times.
As of now, for the new building, first shift will be from 6AM - 2:30 PM, and second will be 4:30-1AM. So on my way to work at 4:30AM....NO TRAFFIC. 12 minutes from Trolley Rd. to the airport. Way home at 3:30 or so, only 15-18 minutes down Dorchester.
Just so happens, I just sent an email out DECLINING a job offer. I just got to 1st shift, and they won't guarantee me a shift, so here I stay.

I would love to get in at Boeing, but I don't see them having much need for a service writer.

That's awesome, I think you have a great outlook. My brother was a cavalry scout in Iraq and was the driver of one of the first MRAP's that made it over there after they were switching from Humvee's. He survived over 20 direct IED attacks in that MRAP, so thanks for helping keep him safe :)

and the people above me are inexperienced and have litterally no Idea what I do or how to do it, so they leave me there because "it makes everyone happy" and "keeps them from having to worry about anything in that area".
Sounds familiar........

Now my company has an opportunity, maybe talk me out of it for the right price/p I'll soon be a Boeing employee.
Do not go down that path my friend. That's a big no no. There are many articles on this. What will you do 5 years later when its time for a promotion? Will you have to do this again?

Sure they may give your more money because they need you, but you have lost the "loyalty."

I am very envious of a friend I worked with at a computer store a few years back, hes up in Washington getting training for Boeings IT dpt.......
Why do cert's have to cost so much money, and why can't I get an entry level position so the company can pay for said certs! :(

And even if they shut down the NEW building, there's still two production facilities here. I will still have a job regardless of what goes down with the union........but nothing will happen. They might have good lawyers, but no federal judge in his right mind will overlook the 2 years of deliberations that Boeing had with the Union trying to come up with a deal to build the second facility in WA. This country needs to realize that the union lost it's effectiveness years ago (for the most part). Boeing tried to make a deal with them, but they are too greedy.

Like what has been said before, it won't happen. Besides, this case is pretty much guaranteed to make it to the Supreme Court, so it's going to be a long time until it's resolved. The Unions won't win this one, if they do, I'm moving to another country because it's time to GTFO

Boeing is actually looking for a supersite for their next facility. In Washington they have a hard time getting parts there as far as having to have them shipped in from everywhere. They are looking for somewhere to have all their suppliers in one location as well. They will probably leave those production plants in Washington, but look for them to be expanding more, elsewhere.

I look for another job? I've been in this area for 17 years working, like I said earlier in this thread what I do is pretty high demand, while the money is not alwayse the same the demand is alwayse there. I've probably held 20 different jobs with 20 different companies in the past 17 years and was never out of work for more than 2 weeks the entire time and that was by choice.
Somebody will hire me, so I dont really care lol.
Wow, I guess congrats are in order.
Thanks,
I've got alot of things I need to weigh before its all final, I really want to go over there and see what its like before I made a firm final. Its hard to take opinions because it appears every department is different over there and it depends heavily on who your upper management is.
Ive also been where I'm at for 6 years and there's a sort of resistance to change when things are pretty routine and your programmed a certain way. I mean if you look at peoples traits and what they do something as simple as a certain parking spot becomes routine and youll notice that everyday that person parks in that same spot or within 2 spots of it.
