View Full Version : Debating on whether to trade the TBSS for a Vette

Ive gotten bored with the truck. I dont race her or take her to shows anymore, and she sits in the back yard more than shes on the road (except for now since the del Sol is back at the body shop). The only reason I bought the TBSS was because it has the LS2 and I needed something to haul the kids around in. Well, the kids are growing up and I dont need all the room anymore. So, Im leaning toward getting my dream cara Z06. Trying to get financing in order and have the dealership looking for one within my price range.

IÔÇÖm a little torn though because I have put a lot of money and time into it and donÔÇÖt want to regret getting rid of her. Do you guys think having a Z06 would get me past that?

Are you talking about a C6? I think once you drive one you won't look back :)

Yep, if I can find one in my price range, otherwise I'll take a C5. They're both absolutely gorgeous! I think you're probably right!

The Z06 is also my dream car. I think owning one will absolutely get you past trading in your truck. Good luck on trading up!

if money is tight grab an 06 z06, if you got over 40 to play with grab an 08, better trans and rear. if you want blue tooth get an 09.

if want to go fi grab a GS.

if for some reason you end up with an auto (Non-z06) ill swap ya my manual and do all the work. =)

Be sure you have a vehicle you can haul the kids and stuff around in. I'm in my 20's and fit, but I didn't enjoy getting in and out of C5 z06 everyday. I sold the c5 and got another evo. Corvette tax on parts sucks. Gas mileage was great though.

How old are the kids? Mine are almost 7 and 4. We have one two seat vehicle and it adds a new challenge when both parents work and both kids are in school. If it were not for the fact I set my own hours, I can gaurantee that I would have two vehicles that will allow for all for of us to ride.

Is the TBSS paid off? Either way, keep it until you have the additional scratch to put cash plus trade in or straight cash for the vette.

Edward has his TBSS, so we're good there. The kids are 12 and 15. The TBSS is paid off and it sounds like you've been talking to the hubby...that's about the same thing he said, but I want one now!!! lol.

I'll trade ya :)

This is no time to toy with my emotions :hysterical:

That is a high price for an 06, someone on here bought one exactly like it almost 2yrs ago for that price.

Well, after a lengthy discussion with Edward last night, and after sleeping on it, IÔÇÖve decided to keep the TBSS and Edward has agreed to let me do a cam, stall, and tranny rebuild, which is what I have wanted since Neal did his first cam. The thought of having another car payment after not having one wasnÔÇÖt very exciting either. Thanks for all of your input guys and hopefully IÔÇÖll see you at the track in the Fall. :cheers

And if I bust my ass and save up, I will be able to get my Z06 next year and pay CASH for it :bigthumb:

That sounds like a really good plan. Having a car payment sucks lol. Plus you'll be able to make the TBSS significantly faster, nothing wrong with waiting a little longer :) I've been waiting for 5 years now to get an Evo, still waiting, so one more year isn't too bad lol

I am just speaking from being 6 foot 4ish, 270lbs........

I sat in a c5, and test drove a c6 for the first time in my life. I could not fit in the c5, pretty much at all. The c6 was comfy, roomy......but not exactly drive 50+ miles a day roomy (prolly why they are considered weekend cars).

Me personally, when you can get the power of a zo6 in a 4 door.......why not?

If you ever want a 3rd tbss lmk :P

If I can fit in a c5 you can fit in one. With a helmet on I had to lean my head to the side to fit that was the only problem I had. LOL. 9.8x in 1/4 with my head cocked to the side

I'm not a little thing either, but with having a del Sol as a daily driver, I think it's safe to say I would be able to manage. :hysterical:

Edward would NOT welcome that job. Hell, I don't think he's too damned excited about the cam, but he brought it up. lol

Wierd I thought the C5 was roomier... I don't have much experience... but I am 6'5" 340# my dad had a c5 z51 and now has a c6 z51 both 6-speeds... I even did the C5 with a helmet. (13.2@109, with like a 2.3 60' on bald runflats, paperfilter stock)

They are great cars, but I could see them being a pain daily... My dad has a quad cab Ram to go with it as well, so its not his only car.
