Thanks for all the compliments so far guys. I have put a lot of time and effort into the car...did I mention money too?:D

BTW those aren't gold magnums hehe I wish they were I get that all the time and it's the main reason I bought them. Guy I know had them on his car and had them powdercoated gold. They are Summit Wheels. Cats out the bag!!!

Here is a shakedown run from thursday. This was first pass off the street as I like to call it:D I usually shift 1-2 at 6600 and 2-3 at 6500 this run I shifted at 5900 1-2 and 5500 2-3.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4htC-zG3QIs

Also just got back from the KOTS/X275/275RS/TNT at Piedmont Dragway and let me tell you what a night. My ODR turbo buddy won the race tonight. Ran a 5.18 at 148 off the trailer, then a 5.09 then 5.05 then 5.005 then 4.98 at 149 to win the whole deal. Dodge Dart with a 357 88mm combo and this thing moves out and wins consistently. Chad Branson is his name check him out.

I also posted a new PB on my street tires a 6.85@105 w/ a 1.6 60' on Nitto 555R DR's and 18" Chrome C6 ZO6 wheels. Got a roll race on the way home too with a LSx TT caprice. Won all 3 times from a 40 50 and 60 roll great race till 3rd when I pulled away. All in all a great night!

welcome. you know grudge racers never post thier times. lol

I realize that, and after I joined the site I realized that it is biased heavily towards the grudge racing side of racing.

Here's how I race and how I see racing:

I don't hide what's under my hood, but I don't walk around bragging, talking about it or showing it off once it's open. If my hood is open it's for a reason, i.e. cooling in pits, in the lanes, changing 2 step rpm etc. etc.

I don't go up to people and say I want to race you or I am going to beat you unless it's a good friend or a buddy of mine.

If I do race someone I know it's a heads up run what you brung race. If my car or your car doesn't fit into each other's class/times then what are you trying to prove by beating up on my slower car? Duh your car is faster....and if it's slower what in the HELL are you doing trying to race my car? I understand the giving the hit and giving lengths and dial in and what not, but I just don't like that style racing too much.

Now if this steps on anyone's toes or bother's them sorry, it's just how I see it and how I race. So that's that. I don't like hiding things, it makes stuff more complicated when you get caught in a lie/multiple lies.

k5hart and 95ta thanks for the compliments it is a nice car. The previous owner did the turbo/suspension/t56 to 80e swap I just had the 80e fully built for 1000rwhp, new converter, t brake, line loc, 2 step, new gears, 2 sets of wheels, tail lights, head lights, brakes, some weight reduction etc. etc. the list goes on lol.

Good setup. Get that 60' down and it will be putting down some damn good et's with that mph.

Chris- thanks man, I think I got the reason worked out why my 60' was so lazy. My tune was pretty dang conservative(we'll just call it rich under wot) like 10.1:1-10.7:1 rich in boost/tip in to redline. Previous owner had the meth settings pretty rich so I backed it off enough to where it's at 11.0:1 coming in boost and after pk. tq. it's 11.3 and at shift points its 11.6:1-11.7:1 on 93 and 14* timing. I'm taking it this tuesday or wednesday to the chassis dyno to have some things changed and logged.

1iron- any time buddy:D As long as it's not to far away (i.e. hour hour n half away) and the conditions are right. Especially after I get done at the dyno and get everything where it really needs to be. What you got?

Good luck. It can be a bitch chasing down issues as to why your vehicle isn't performing like you know it should. Ive been down that road several times but persistence pays off and times will improve. :bigthumb:

I have been slowly whittling down the short times, but I have kind of hit a wall at 1.53 60'. Throwing the kitchen sink at it off the brake still didn't get the 1.3x-1.4x I think the car is capable of pulling so I really think it's because the tune is lazy in the lower rpm range.

I also found that to be the case with my Lightning. After we got the timing ramped in correctly I was able to rip off a 1.47 60's.

Well after talking to a lot of very very experienced and knowledgeble people in this field of tuning these LSx cars it appears the 1.53 60' is the brick wall I hit.

The tune is going to have to stay that way if I want this shortblock to live consistently and reliably.

Sure I can turn it up and I might get a month or two out of it or one or two passes. Mainly because the 98 pcm's fueling tables are inconsistent under boost which I have noticed since leaning it out. The reason it was so rich before is because the computer cannot react fast enough every single time to allow enough fuel to be sent even with two walboro 255's, brfpr, and boost a pump. Since I thought it was at 11.4 at tip in at 11.7 at shifts it was doing that one out of 5 runs. The next 4 would be 11.8 to 12.6 then 11.5 to 12.2 then 11.7 to 12.1 then back to 11.4 and 11.7 which is too inconsistent to be safe for me right now at this moment. So I turned the methanol back up and I can't get it back to where it was. I've got it at 10.9-11.6, 11.3-11.8, 11.1-11.5 so far right now which is ok if it will stay that way and not go back into thr 12's. High 11's scare me a little bit too, but not as much as 12's do.

So I have 2 options really. One is to have my harness re-pinned and buy a 99 pcm and have a very renowned tuner put his dsp2 switch on it and run a pump gas/meth tune and then a strictly 116 or 120 race gas tune that I can run at the track and in Real Street where meth and i/c together are not allowed which is the class I want to run in and get a 2.5 bar map sensor. This would cost 1000-1200

Or I can go aftermarket pcm like BS3, Fast XFI, Holley dominator etc. etc. for around 1400-1800 for what I need and have so much more ability to tune, log and features to say the least would be well worth it to do it once.

I do plan on putting a LQ4 with forged pistons and rods, arp main and rod bolts and head studs with ported 317's with a 2.08 and 1.60 valves installed. I can keep my two walboro 255's and move the other one I have to the tank with the other one instead of inline like it was, use my 60# injector's and uprgrade the feed and rails and make the old feed line the new re-turn.

It's a lot of work, but to go any further from here at least one of these has to get done, and in the grand scheme of what I want to do all of has to be done. I don't want to do it 3 times. I've been good so far about doing it the first time on this one so...I guess I'll start looking.

Do you have one of those walbros on a hobbs switch? So when you hit x number of boost both will flow? DO you also have a boost reference regulator?

fbodyjunkie06
08-21-2011, 09:33 PM
No no hobbs switch. Both are on all the time, the brfpr does keep the pumps and injectors from working so hard out of boost in vaccum. My FPR is 39 base and 58 wot.
