Vintage displacement. thoroughly modern technology, stunning performance.

An engine with 454 cubic inches of displacement will always be associated with higher-performance Chevys, and that tradition continues with the all-new LSX454 crate engine. We started with the LSX Bowtie block, stuffed it with an all-forged, super-tough rotating assembly, bolted on a pair of our new deep-breathing LSX six-bolt cylinder heads.

The new LSX six-bolt cylinder heads are based on the racing-derived LS7 heads that help deliver more than 500 horsepower in the Corvette Z06. They enable tremendous low-end torque and great high-rpm power.

The LSX454 is delivered in Long block form. It also comes dressed with great-looking, all-new orange powder-coated valve covers with ÔÇ£LSX454ÔÇØ logos engraved and painted black.

NOTE: Due to the number of application variations, the LSX454 crate engine is supplied with a dust shield instead of an oil pan. See the LS Engine Components section for production-style oil pan choices. Also, the LSX454 valve covers do not include provisions for mounting the ignition coil brackets. Aftermarket or custom relocation brackets must be used.

From the April, 2009 issue of Vette <----, ah this thing is OLD NEWs!!!

Rated at 620 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, it has the muscle to excel in any high-performance role, be it ruling the street, stealing the show, conquering the quarter-mile, or reigning on the road course. Unveiled at last falls SEMA show and priced between $12,000 and $14,000 (depending upon dealer), the LSX 454 (PN 19166972) is now available at participating GMPP dealers nationwide

It offers the unmatched torque of a big-block with the high-rpm potential of a cammed-up small block.

we have made more than 50 pulls on our twin-turbo test engine past 2,050 hp.

Redline is a very conservative 6,500 rpm.

Torque starts off at an obscene 500 lb-ft at only 3,000 rpm

A 24-month/50,000-mile warranty is placed on the LSX 454 because we know that its so well engineered, tested, and validated.

A small nitrous system--like 300 horses--would bolt right on. With forced induction, you could go quite a ways before you [had to] go into the engine, given the right fuel octane and careful tuning. If you use a lower-compression piston--something like 9.0:1--youll have a 454-inch LS engine that will take a lot of boost. What is "a lot"? Im not sure how far you can push an LSX 454, but Im sure someone will show me.

In theory, it would be quite simple to have a 1,000 horse-engine that starts, idles, and runs with good manners. Its an amazing time to be into hot rods.

weve seen more than 25 mpg in our engineering test mules that have been running around for the last 12 months.
