i know most of us are cheaper than crap,

but i bought mom a junker last year, and she LOVES it.
it died, and i think it would be easier to buy her a newer one,
drop it off her house,

and bring the old one here, and fix it & resell it.
it has almost new batteries in it.

but where can you get one cheap here local?

stopped by place on Old Trolley, he is full price on his.

nobody on CL answers your email, or they are all sold.

Last year I bought them 10 at a time and sold them pretty easily. I haven't messed with them this year. The ones I was buying and selling were 2006-2008 Club Car Precedents with original batteries, new bodies, recovered seats, head/tail lights, high speed code, and a couple other little things. They were pretty nice. I can get a smoking deal on them but like I said, I was buying 10 at a time and they would deliver them straight to my garage at my house. I should have done it again this year at the beginning of the summer but I spent all my money buying out my business partner.

that's pretty much what EVERYONE is doing, all the Club Cars on CL are "in my garage" but they want storefront retail prices.

but they don't know how old batteries are, if they test good (they don't have a tester to load test them as a set). so it's pretty much buyer beware.

the store on old trolly is cheaper for an EZ GO with new tires, NEW batteries, and good paint than the Club Car guys on CList. and he will stand behind it a little bit.

Thanks, at least I know now why there are half a dozen guys with half a dozen Club Cars in their yard for sale on CL.
knowing is half the battle.

Looks like you are going to pay FULL price if you want to avoid ''Buyer beware".

The EZ GO is not the preferred cart in our area because you have to worry about the rust. The club car is all aluminum.

The guys that are selling them out of their garage on craigslist are buying them from a middle man. I was buying them straight from Club Cars wholesale distributer. Mine went to club car first, then the wholesaler who I bought from. Club Car does not sell them themselves, they sell through their distributers. If the carts run back through Club Car, the batteries are load tested and the chargers are tested.

The reason the guys you are running into are wanting store front prices is because there is someone else with their hand in the money between them and the distributer. They also aren't buying 10 at a time. They buy 3 or so at a time.

When I was doing it, I gave a written receipt and a 90 day warranty. I only had one warranty issue and it was bearings going out on a front wheel. Instead of going to the guys house and repairing it, I just showed up with a new cart, just like the one he had. He was happy as hell. Then when the distributer showed up at my house with the next batch, he swapped the bad one out. Win win for everyone.

Also, avoid painted bodies. They look great until you scratch them then they look like shit. Look for a cart with a new body.

You should be able to buy a club car precedent, 2006-2008, with good (but not new) batteries, new body, headlights and tailights, clean or recovered front seat, rear seat, mirror, high speed code so it will run 19 istead of 13, and chrome hubcaps for under $3000.

good words, i never got any ahold of anyone on CL who was doing any kind of warranty.

yeah, $3000 is about what the Club cars are on CL (search for GOLF CAR instead of golf carT, picks up car in club and golf)

i got her a EZGO for $2500,
-new batteries,
-all three "chips" (really just wiring harnesses with different configurations: high speed, mild hill, steep hill)
-new charger,
-90 day warranty.
-new headlight
-tail lights.
-owners manual on a CD
i think it was a 2006. for ~$2500

i don't think it was a GREAT deal, but it was as new as I can afford, and it has some warranty, and new batteries.

it will be fine for mom to ride around in

thanks for the education on whats going on with the Club Cars.
knowledge is power.

$3000 all day (http://charleston.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=golf+car&srchType=T&minAsk=&maxAsk=) , unless you want it in "Beautiful Color (http://charleston.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=Beautiful+Color+&srchType=T&minAsk=&maxAsk=) " he is trying to get $3200 or so, so he must have a middle man.

FWIW, batteries are ~600 for 6 new 6 volt batteries,
should last 5~6 years from what i have read.

and gas/oil, maint & tune ups breaks even to the $600 for batteries,
so from what i have read..... it is.....what it is.
