So I have this cheapo alarm in the garage that was going to go on my truck. I got a steal on it, but it's really basic. Got permission from the wifey to put it on her car, just because, and buy the one I want. Got a quote from CARS on Dorchester rd (once again, great guys, great prices, AWESOME work) for a Clifford, and was wondering a few things.
I want a 2-way system, with remote start, and smartphone capability. Wouldn't it be nice to unlock your car while you're out of town b/c you locked the wife's keys in your truck (long story, lol)?
What are you guys running? Likes? Dislikes?

Should have known! LOL
Seriously, I need some real-world input here. A pistol is great if you catch em in the act, but some deterrent while you are away is a good thing too.

I had a viper and liked it alot. I had the upgraded range so it would have a longer range on the 2-way.
I've got the Clifford as well as the viper smart start on my truck Neil and the guys at CARS hooked it up . It's a nice feature to be able to use my iPhone to start my truck while I'm still in a store or work and getting ready to leave . I also like the fact that it sends a text message to your phone instantly if the alarm is triggered .

I have used Viper (DEI) remote start alarms since the 90's I have had them on probably 30+ vehicles with out ever a problem. Make sure who ever installs the alarm no what they are doing. I dont know who's good in Charleston anymore but I can list a few places that sucks at alarms.

I've got a viper alarm on my truck that was on it when I bought it.
Here's a funny story about it though. A couple months ago my family and I went out of town. I locked my truck, set the alarm, and we left. We were over at a friends house and my wife reads on FB that there was a bad storm back home and the power was out almost every where. It was about 11:30 at night and I get a phone call from our local 911 office saying that my alarm has been going off for the past 2 hours. They sent out an officer to see if anything was wrong and there wasn't.
I get a hold of one of my buddies and get him to go by the house and see if it's still raising hell. He finally gets over there about 1:30 and it's still going to town. He tried to clip the wires on the siren, but couldn't reach them and he ended up getting my hood open and disconnecting the battery at 2:30 in the morning.
When I got home I was expecting a dead battery. When I hooked the battery back up, it started raising hell again. I turned the key and it started right up! We now plan on leaving a key to the truck with whoever is watching our house hahaha!
Cliff notes: I went out town, the truck alarm went off for 5 hours in the neighborhood with no power until 2:30 in the morning

Truck came with it and I have no use for remote start. Scared the crap out of me the first few times it cranked up by itself cause something in my pocket touched the button.
