Is it powdercoat? Sure looks good that's for sure.

Hope you have a good coater, seems as though most of the local coaters are getting too much work and doing pretty crappy work lately.

Its paint my only worry is it will hold in heat.

Even a caliper or engine enamel? Never though about the HOLDING heat, but makes some sense.

Hmmm.......would powder be a better option? Or same thing with the heat?

High temp paint will hold, but I'd do a few coats. I only did 1 coat on my Grand Am GT in red on the UIM and after 3 years it almost looked orange.

Looks good. Do ettttttt!

i like the whipples black as they came.. but ive heard you can ask for it directly from whipple and they will coat it the color you want for some extra $$$

I prefer Kenne Bell.

I like the scream of the KB but they are so damn ugly. They both perform pretty equally so the whipple got my money just based on the design and looks.

If I got another blower it would be a KB 2.8H LC.

I love my 2.8H. If I were to ever upgrade, it would be to a larger LC.

Jim Bell is a great guy. I've been to his house and had a few beers with him, as well as toured their factory, etc. He's one of the good guys. Even if I lost a few horsepower, I'd still give him my money before I gave Dustin Whipple a cent.

I dont know about all that. Both KB's product longevity records and customers service are widely known to be questionable in the past with their 2.3's in the Lightning world. Which is the main reason I bought my Whipple 2.3. I read about nothing but positive feedback when dealing with Whipple for years before I finally bought mine. The only reason I wouldn't buy a larger Whipple is because my only option is a 3.4 and they haven't proven themselves enough to me without buying supporting mods that should be included with the blower IMO.

I agree here, they should include the larger inlet as a package deal option. Like i said, both blowers are pretty equal, but whipple has tons more options for you to pick from. 2.3, 2.9, 3.4 and 4.0 just for the cobras/ shelbys.

Chris have you heard anything about them maybe making a 4.0 model for the lightnings? Or maybe you should just change out your heads and run some 4v so you can run the 4.0 on your block... that would be some retarded power.

If I had it my way Id go aluminum stroker big bore with 4v heads and twin turbos but I dont see that money tree growing anytime soon. :)

I haven't seen enough significant power/performance gains from guys that switch from the 2.3 to the 3.4 let alone a 4.0 that would cause me to make the switch. There was talk about a 2.9 for Lightnings that I think would be a happy medium between the two current options that IMO would perform better than both also but us Lightning owners have to face it we are driving a dying or dead platform and major advancements are nearly over unless you go full custom.

Thats why i went with the 2.9 also. Seems like right now its the perfect size out there next to the 2.8 from kenne bell. How hard have you spun the 2.3 so far? I know im making about the same rwhp as the 2.3 cobra guys are running almost 3lbs less boost. Might be cheaper for you to just spray it alittle bit and pick up alot more than you would with the bigger blowers at the track. Ive seen some insane pickups even with small 50-100 shots when you already have the blower.

Im currently maxing out two boost gauges. The stock one and a 20# autometer gauge. lol

Im probably going to go that route eventually with the nitrous and see if I cant hit mid-low 6's.

Wanna see a funny vid? Watch the stock boost gauge.

Paint will be better than powder coat. I had a performance shop powder coat my stock eaton competition orange for free and I didn't even know it till they popped the hood. They thought it was a good idea. It pushed me towards a KB...
