Or looking for some temporary help? I am no longer at McElveen due to some bullshit sales policy; and need to put a few dollars in my pocket, until I can land something permanent.
Before you tell me about all of the dealership openings, in the area, I think I want to step away from that side of the car business for a while.
PM me, if you have any specific questions about my work history/skills.
Thanks, guys.

Sorry man.
I don't know how that McElveen store stays in business. It's in an awful location with no real frontage and with all that mess around there it's just a pain in the ass to get in and out. Bill Ash does PDR for us.

I'd like to hear about this bs policy.
I suppose I can share this, as it shouldn't be deemd slanderous or libelous (I probably spelled both of those wrong):
All service consultants under the McElveen umbrella are required to maintain an average $150 labor/repair order. It sucks. I was fair to my customers, and ended up at $143; so they cut me-no questions asked, no warning, not even the common courtesy of a reach-around.

Sorry to hear of your employment woes. Seems like I saw Baker Motors looking for a Service Advisor a week or so ago, just in case you had ever thought about higher end car brands.
I think that if I ever had to resort to stealership work again, I would go the European import way and leave the big 3 to sleep in the beds they made for themselves. The amount of money that comes out of the price of a big 3 vehicle just to feed the UAW is ridiculous.
I do have an Audi A4 timing belt job to do this week, if you are interested. You only have to take the whole nose of the car off to get to it! He-He!

Hell, if you need a hand, let me know. I haven't gotten dirty in a while; and I can follow instructions pretty well. Just ask the Hals.

Well when Mt. Pleasant took their other entrance away I was told they got $3 million. Then they took that and bought the CVS location after they moved and will soon have good frontage.
And it's also possible that I am completey wrong. lol.

You are correct, Wes. McElveen did buy the old CVS, but it's not theirs yet. The city is using it as a road construction project HQ.

What a bunch a crap. Never liked them. I had real bad experience with the service department. Good luck finding something. Opportunities will pop up.

I know I said I was going to get out of the car biz, then I heard that Carmax is looking. Maybe I'll see what it's like at a place that's not a new car store.

what was their labor rate?
$98/hour. Not too hard to hit the sales target, when you only look at that number. Until, that is, you consider that the total labor on an oil change and tire rotation is $34.69. That shit'll drop an average in a heartbeat.

Holy hell $98 an hour!? Is that just me or is that really high? There's some high end performance shops that don't even charge that much...
clubracergt1

Around $100/hour is pretty much standard these days. It's also not that high when you figure it costs the average dealer about half of that to pay the techs, advisors, management, and support staff. In most dealerships, especially in these times, it's the fixed operations department (service/parts/body shop) that pays the bills. Even independant shops are getting around $100/hour as well. It's really all in how it's presented. How many times has a shop told you that a repair is, for example, 3.5 hours at $100/hr to perform. Usually they just tell you it's a $350 pain in the ass. They just don't tell you what the rate is.

How can they tell you what your average has to be when you have no control over what type of jobs come in the door? Like you said, an oil change and tire rotation might not pay much, so what are you suppose to do??? turn them away for the sake of your average?? I don't get it.

I can understand that for the dealership, but every shop I've taken a car to has listed on the invoice what the labor rate is. Regardless, you got screwed, I don't see how you have any control over the average invoice, that doesn't make any sense at all...

It's sales. Service advisors are supposed to sell people things they dont really need, like reflashing your pcm because your battery died.

nothing pulls the average labor rate down more than a $9 key being made. They probably wanted you to sell a complete lock set for the ignition and all the doors. But no your conscience sold him just the key he came in looking for. It's that white blazers fault you were terminated.

Yeah they dont care about anyone, you and Joe were the two best parts guys I have ever delt with and look how they treated both of you. I knew alot of people and shops who just got parts from just either you or Joe.
