Does anyone have any feedback on M&H Drag Radials? I have an opportunity to either pick up a set of 345/35/18 M&H DR's or a set of the new Nitto NT05R 345/30/19 DR. The M&H is far cheaper but would require me picking up a set of 18" rear wheels. The Nitto is a direct replacement but would mean I have to drive on them daily.

Has anyon used the M&H's on the street for a daily tire? How do they hook? How are their manners in the wet?

Thanks,
Jeff

I used them back in '07 on my GTO, and it was a daily driver. I've never been one to take corners fast, so the handling wasn't something on my mind. The traction on the street for straight line was good though. Similar, in my opinion, to mt et street radials.
I was also in Phoenix, AZ at the time and I don't remember ever driving them on a wet street.

No manners in the wet. Just ask the owner of the silver Maro at the shop. Swapped ends in a straight line during a rain storm. They do hook well, though. I think we get good prices on them and they have some good sizes.

I was just doing comparisons on this the other day & came to the conclusion that it would be better off to get a set of 18" repros.

The 19" Nittos are just too expensive and after buying 2 sets you will have already paid more than the cost for 18" repros and tires. Reviews I have read on the 19" 345/30/19 NT05Rs say they are very poor in the rain & can only go 45-50 mph without starting to hydroplane. Not something I would want to have to deal with on a DD in the summertime.

There are more drag radial options & tire height options for 18" rims and the cost is significantly less. You can't go wrong with M&H or M/T IMO.

Check the Vette forums as I recently picked up a set of 18" repros with M/T for a decent price. There are also a couple of rim company running specials on repros now too.

Yes, you are correct. I'll just be patient and pick up a set of 18" rear wheels and then choose a set of DR's to use. Then all I have to do is swap rear wheels when I want to go out and play. :cheers When are you coming back home?

I have never owned any to say about cornering and rain traction, but at NMRA in March of this year M&H was supposed to release a bad ass drag radial, to kill MT and others like it. They were not going to be cheap as they were supposed to be a carbor fiber side compound instead of bias ply or steel belts, making them supposedly lighter, and straight line traction was supposed to be better than any so far. I only seen one set on a turbo Mustang in true street, and they were supposed to be some first releases he got from a buddy that runs drag radial class. He was running 8.40's at 160mph plus in true street on them. I havent seen or heard anything about them since, so who knows..:bigthumb:
