Just wondering if there are some tips or tricks to making the stock housings stronger to last. Ive been told to weld up the axle tubes. Also looking into 8.8 brace kits, but dont know what brand to look at specifically.

Any help is appreciated.

I was looking at these and then the more i looked at them it seems like they could be made easily for probably 20 bucks if you have a welder. But anyways seems like they would help.

I think im set on UPR, mainly because it also comes with a girdle for the housing, which is something I want/need. Now I have to wait until next year for my money tree to come.

I could be making my self look stupid, BUT, I would have some one who knows what they are doing weld the axle tubes to the pumpkin, they are pretty thin and can be bent pretty easily by heat/stupidity. Bent axle tubes are worthless, and also weld the torque boxes.

Did you buy the plates, or did some one around here make them?

Make sure you check that the rear end is straight before you weld it all up!

I think I may be late on coming to the party as it is. But yes, that's in line too.

Weld the tubes, brace from tube to front of axle housing, brace from bottom of housing up to tubes as far out on to the tubes without getting into your suspension. Do you have the lower arm relocation brackets? If your gonna be doing any welding might as well get those.

Stay away from UPR. If you really want to trust hardcore suspension parts from the same company that prides themselves on billet interior pieces go ahead. Go with Team Z or another suspension company.

A lot of people murder UPR in there suspension, but I know that their arb is keeping my car from rolling around, and I know a few cars local that are fast.

If your torque boxes are not welded or supported now, your asking for problems with that windsor power plant and NOS. You will eventually tear them out of the car. Have Robert weld them up now.

I was thinking about picking up a set of these even though mine isnt leaving anywhere near as hard as brandons.

I want a set of the adjustable lower boxes. I have a S box for the uppers already but fixing those lowers and some good coil overs and I'd be set.

This is the very reason I did a thread looking to buy an 8.8 rearend. After 2 years of fighting spinning, Mark and Chet @ Hipster race cars found where Cameron braced my rearend after the axle tubes were twisted, and didn't check before hand wether it was straight or not. Didn't see it until I took the coil overs off and went back to the stock springs and shocks. 1 Shock has about enough room to get your pinky between the axle tube and the shock, and the other side has about a 2" gap. Also if you want with the exception of the girdled diff cover, Chet can fab and do everything very reasonable.:bigthumb:
