Looking to go dark dark on the truck. Any one recommend a good local place? I also already have a light tint, what's the best way to remove this stuff?

I would recommend Palmetto Tint shop on Dorchester by the Harley dealership. Owners name is Bryan and he does great work. Uses good film and backs it very well.

Then there's always GW in S'ville. Can't go wrong with him.

Good to know, thanks for help. I know some places only go to state legal tint. Not sure the law in SC, but I was looking for around 10-15%.

Not sure what SC law is (30% if I remember correctly) but I haven't been ticketed for the mustang that has limo on the sides and back with 20 on the front. Well yet at least...

Legal limit is 27%, but you'll get 35% tint, because most manufacturers already tint the windows slightly from the factory (usually 5-8%).

That being said, 35% tint is too light... 20% or darker. +1 for GW... He does a lot of our work vehicles and no complaints.

Stay away from PJ on craigslist.

Wanted the say thanks. Ended up going with GW and over all very happy. No bubbles even on day one, removed old and installed new in about an hour. I ended up going 5% rear, 15% sides. Seems about perfect for my taste.

and incase anyone is wondering its not illegal for him to tint darker than the limit, its the customers responsibility to abide by the law.

I told him my truck wasn't a street truck, show only. Not sure if it helped my cause, but there's no records I ever went there to begin with. That said, when I came out of Wal-Mart and someone tinted my windows I was very surprised, but pleased.

I don't think so, I said GW did it. GW = Greg Wilson, or Gaylord Walker, not sure I forget. There is no paper trail, it's my truck and it's got tint on it. End story.

not sure what you are saying i'm wrong about?

the fact that i can legally have darker than 27% or that its NOT illegal for Gary to install it on ANY vehicle that IS NOT meant for public highway use.

again, OFF-ROAD use only, or signed affidavit by a physician makes it legal for him to install it doesnt it?

of coarse you are the officer, but my reading comprehension is descent enought to understand:(H) The provisions of this section do not apply to:

(1) a motor vehicle registered in this State in the name of a person, or the person's legal guardian, who has an affidavit signed by a physician or an optometrist licensed to practice in this State that states that the person has a physical condition that makes it necessary to equip the motor vehicle with sunscreening material which would be of a light transmittance or luminous reflectance in violation of this section. The affidavit must be in the vehicle at all times during its operation and must be produced at the request of a law enforcement officer. The affidavit must be updated every two years;

and:(G) No person may:

(1) offer for sale or for use any sunscreening product or material for motor vehicle use not in compliance with this section;

(2) install any sunscreening product or material on vehicles titled for use on public roads without permanently affixing the certificate of compliance specified in this section.

sections G and H of the law.

not looking to pick a fight, just dont understand completely what is wrong here.

i know without a doubt the signed affidavit is valid because i use one, have been pulled for it and get an "ok have a great day" as soon as i provide the affidavit to the officer.

Exactly. Also, with no receipt or actually seeing the installed put the tint on the windows the case would be hard to prove anyways.

But you're right... it's a mute issue and not worth the resources.

Can I tint my whole windshield if I have a note from an eye doctor?

You can as long as you have a signed affidavit by a physician or an optometrist licensed to practice in SC that states that you have a physical condition that makes it necessary to equip your vehicle with window tint material which would be in violation of the law. The affidavit must be in the vehicle at all times during its operation and must be produced at the request of a law enforcement officer. The affidavit must be updated every two years.
