Well change of plans yet again. Looking again at my finances, I've decided to go ahead and order the MSD6LS ignition box and Victor Jr intake kit for the 5.3 and run it with the 750 Holley I already have. This is gonna be the quickest, cheapest, and easiest way to get the car back up and running. Not ruling the boast out all together, just not right now. Don't worry tho I have plans to spray the car too.

On a side note, look what showed up today....

Insert booing and hissing here.....

Matts94Z28 03-05-2012 04:04 PM

I approve.

Foose04 03-05-2012 04:17 PM

I'll toss a boooo in there for ya. There is a few guys over on the truck side hitting the 5.3's with 200-250 and seem to keep them together. God speed though, get the fun started back up, then maybe go snail later on.

yota 03-05-2012 05:30 PM

i'll bite... is buying an ignition box and intake really that much cheaper than buying coils/harness/ecu and going efi? you already have the intake/injectors/tb... i would think drivability, tuning, etc would be safer, easier, and overall "better" in the end with efi, no?

the new k-member looks good though!

no, but its cheaper than buying a turbo, bov, wastegate, fuel system, intercooler, piping, etc

yota 03-05-2012 05:37 PM

i understand ditching the turbo parts for now in the interest of getting it back on the road and saving some $, but why not run it as an NA with fuel injection though? unless the plan is to go blow-through carb later down the road...

Because it's the four eye freak. Think of it as un-naturally aspirated.

What Ian said lol. Seriously I see your point. The truth is though I would need a whole new fuel system to make the fuel injection work. Im not saying never just not right now. Im gonna hold onto this LS1 intake and all and I will probably make the jump one day. Im gonna start gathering parts for fuel injection as the deals come along. Right now though, I could have this car running within a week of the intake and ignition showing up.

BigdaddyDupree 03-05-2012 07:37 PM

and be like tyler mother fucking dupree. now buy an enclosed trailer and naver race. Put your nuts in claires purse too, then we could be twins. think about it

schardbody 03-07-2012 12:19 AM

you need a split pattern 221/226 on a 114 .580-.610 lift biased towards exhaust.

this would be what i'd run IF i was worried about street manners and wanted a cam that worked well with spray and boost. you could go a good bit larger depending on the converter and how streetable you want it.

my experience is with fuel injection and trucks though, not light fox bodies with carb'd swap.
