Cutting out the beer and sodas helps a lot too. Remember though eating healthy is just half the equation....getting exercise is the other half. Always weigh yourself in the morning just after you wake up thats when you are the lightest and when your weight is the most consistent.

BTW I love the grilled chicken wraps from Wendys. I leave off the honey mustard and add sriracha sauce when I get home.

Chris do you think having breakfast is important? I usually skip but I hear that it starts your metabolism for the day. I hate getting up earlier to make breakfast anyways.

For me it is because I exercise and I also get hungry pretty often. Peoples initial reaction is to starve themselves to lose weight but that not healthy. By doing that not only do you lose body fat but you also lose muscle. It is much more important to eat more healthy, more frequently and exercise portion control. Think of it like a car. Food is your bodies fuel. Would you rather put shit pump gas in your race car or some race gas? People will invest a lot of time, money and effort in a lot of thing except for their bodies. I was also guilty of doing so at one point in my life and I hope that time is behind me now.

When I make the effort to go running it's at night, so I usually don't eat any breakfast. I see what you mean though, that makes sense.

Im not sure about your job but I go in a few minutes early and pop my soup in the microwave for a couple of minutes. Then I sit down at my desk for 5-10 minutes to eat and check out the forums. After that Im ready to start the day.

Ive gone from a size 36-38 down to a size 33 and lost about 50 lbs doing everything Ive said in this thread. I have a good feeling my steps are very similar to Robs and he is also having success as good if not better than I am. I cant speak for him but I havent been this light or skinny since high school which was over 12 years ago.

I don't think you need to worry about those couple of grams of fat. It's about the amount of calories. Most people who are over weight are eating too much. If you eat a lot then you need to exercise more.

True but at the same time he's doing what works for him. Not everyone will lose the weight the same way. And not all of us have a super active metabolism like you Van lol

I dont even pay attention to calories when I buy food. I mainly pay attention to the fat content.

Lot of the same stuff I do has already been said in here. Another thing that helps is eating fiber. Fruits, nuts, and veggies.

If you want to know what to eat and not eat Men's Health editor did the "Eat This Not That" series of books. I have quite a few of them. It gives you good examples of what to replace some of your bad eating habits with, what to order at restaurants, and what to cook at home. I learned a lot of my dieting from these. It doesnt just say hey eat this, but it tells you why its good or bad for you.

I used to think like that too, but I was informed that it is not about the fat content. It is all about the amount of calories you eat.

I would agree with that to an extent but I would also assume if its low in fat is probably low in calories as well (but I could be wrong Im far from an expert). As long as you work off more calories than you intake creating a calorie deficiency theres not a problem. Thats why I dont worry about them much.

Calories if unburned can turn to fat. Fat content does lead to fat and clogged arteries. :)

Either way my method works for my body. Results may vary.

I've decided to start watching what I eat also, Just came back from Yokoso. Watched every bite. UMMMM Good. Don't know how healthy it was though.

i walked a mile tonight on the treadmill and did 25 situps afterwards. havent had a soda in three weeks

blubyu87gt 01-16-2012 10:38 PM

Try grabbing a backpack and go transient (just randomly walk or run around some area) a few times a week. Check out CardioTrainer if ya have an Android cellie (maybe iPhone too?) to use as a pedometer (or get a pedometer, of course). I am not a big fan of treadmills, personally. Too easy to "give up" or get distracted and stop on them. When ya take a walk for a mile or seven in one direction... Well ya have to walk back. Or call a cab. Plus this area has quite a bit of areas to just go out and see that make the workout fairly enjoyable.

csikx 01-16-2012 11:01 PM

I've read a good alternative to running is riding bikes. A lot of people, like me, don't like to run. When you ride a bike, you also tend do go further and work out longer.

Any exercise is better than nothing.

Im down to 230 from 243 in a few weeks. Just trying to watch what I eat and walk when I can. Its hard, I like to eat way to much and bad stuff.. so I am taking fruit / veggies in the car, granola bars as snacks instead of stopping to buy a coke and candy bar. It's working. Want to get down to 215 before my birthday in April (which should be very attainable) and down ultimately to 180-185. I have broad shoulders, thick chest, I will never be a skinny mini Abercrombie model but thats ok with me.

We're in the same boat, I'm 6'4 but I have a thick build. I'm at 240 right now and I want to get down to 200 over the next few months. Supposedly my "healthy" weight is 215 but I don't buy it. I've done it before, just a matter of discipline.

hugaw1 02-08-2012 11:25 AM

Well, if you're into body building, I normally eat a high protein, Low carb diet. Top it all out with healthy exercise will give you a buffed out body.
