Comcast hasnt let me down for many years now. I dont use the cable tv from them, but the internet speed is ussually constant.

Carlrx7 02-04-2012 01:54 PM

i ditched comcast b/c of the 150 price tag a month. may go back to just their internet service and go direct tv when nfl package is offered free for next year.

Thinking of doing the same thing after looking at comcast speed compared to mine.

Comcast has a special right now 29.95/ for 6 months. What modem do I need to buy?

When you sign up they give you all the equipment. I have had them now for 3 yrs. No problems. Other than when cable goes out. Not that often.

There is a monthly charge to rent their modem. I'd rather buy one. It would pay for itself in 6 months.

chrisheltra 02-04-2012 06:08 PM

Its only like $2/mo

They told me $7.

chrisheltra 02-04-2012 06:17 PM

Must have gone up

03SVTCOBRA 02-04-2012 07:23 PM

I think its $3 a month for my comcast modem.

Mike 02-04-2012 07:32 PM

I guess it's something for new customers. I just seen the link for the approved modem list, and DOCSIS 2.0 is good for the Performance Plan. They can be had for $25 on ebay.

30 a month is a good deal, but they will jack the price up after 6 months. I think i pay about 50ish per month just for internet.

Carlrx7 02-07-2012 04:32 PM

now im just pissed.

knology guy came out, disconnected my cisco valet m20 router and ran a speed test. 20mb's!! WTF!!

i reset the modem back to factor defaults, while its configing i can run a speed test and it will be 20mb/s as well, but as soon as it says finished, it get knocked down to 3mbs

this is with wireless or wired.

my old ass netgear router spits out 20mbs a sec.

only reason i upgraded was for the n-draft 100mbs for my lan of computers. anyone have any clues why im getting what im getting?

all of you pay so much for download speed, its useless unless you are constantly streaming video or downloading tons of porn.

i pay $22/month, have a 5yr old linksys N router thats probably barely capable of pushing 3mbps.
