Depends on boost and fuel, you,d be pushing it on pump, and without 255s and dual fpdm's or a return style, 500 is pushing it on the stock setup.

Running 17lbs with a 2.2KB and Ford Racing Aluminator. Tunning is soon but I know I need fuel upgrades before going crazy. Sure Redline will be seeing my Cobra in the spring. -Shane

yea its on svtp also. thank yall for the kind words. i want a truck either a 88 thru 92 tacoma, or a late 70s bronco

They didn't start making the Tacoma until mid-94 or 95......the early toyotas trucks were just Toyota pickups. My favorite are the 89-94 body style, i've had several of them.

jmd 12-05-2012 06:29 PM

what is the stock engine hp good too.

Mid 95 for the Tacomas and they were actually dubbed as "95.5" model year. I've owned all 3 "generations" prior to the Tacomas and loved every one of them. The things those trucks will go through and keep on going still blows my mind. I ran the motor on my 83 bone dry when the radiator cracked and the motor locked up while I was driving. I pushed in the clutch and coasted into my friend's driveway, let it cool down, filled it back up with water, and it cranked up and drove for another 15k (after replacing the radiator) before i sold it.

I've had horrible luck with the 22r and 22re motors. If you want one dead let me have it for a little while. The 86 turbo truck I had was pretty tough until the turbo blew up, I blew up the 94 I had, I blew up the 92 I had, and I blew a head gasket and broke the timing chain on the 91 I had.......

I want me another 89-94 truck to swap in a ls motor. I met a guy in Savannah that swapped in a 5.3 into his 89 and I love it. It fit o.k., other than the exhaust was really tight, but looks like a lot of fun..... I should have kept my 94 with a 4 inch suspension lift, the first motor lasted about 78k miles, and I swapped in a reman one then sold it to a friend because he brought me about twice what I had in it......

I just found a 93 extended cab with a blown motor that I'm going to look at this weekend if i make it home..... I love those little trucks.

Pistons are the weakest link... ask me how i know.:bigthumb: There are a bunch of people making near 1k rwhp on the stock blocks still though.

oldskoolstang 12-05-2012 08:11 PM

I remember one shop making over 900rwhp out of a stock shortblock back in 05 or 06.....I doubt it lasted that long, and am sure it wasn't the only one that made that power....

DolSVT00 12-05-2012 11:45 PM

They'll make that power, but after 700 their not gonna be as reliable lol.

There was a Guy a long time ago that made 997hp on a stock lightning, it spit a rod out on the way home. Moral of the story: there's alot of difference between can, and reliable lol.

Shane361 12-06-2012 06:32 AM

Heard the pistons are good up to about 700hp and I assume that's at the flywheel.

oldskoolstang 12-06-2012 08:02 AM

Keep the stock motor in the 550 rwhp range with a good tune and they seem to last a looooong time....

ForceFed4g63 12-06-2012 08:41 AM

I thought he had a built motor in this thing?

ShawnBoyMoody 12-06-2012 09:04 AM

The factory built it.:hysterical:

They come from the assembly line with Manley H beam rods, and Mahle forged pistons, and a Kellogg forged crank.

Im not 100% sure, but if I remember right, the fastest mod motor car uses a stock Ford mod motor cast iron block, and a stock cobra crankshaft. The blocks are good for upwards of 2k hp or so im pretty sure, but you have to "tweak" them a little :D
