i was looking in a road and track today at work. had the 14 vette in it.
im trying to figure out the purpose of the 7 speed trans..... why would you want/need 3 overdrives? they listed top speed was acheived in 5th gear which was 190 at 6,000 rpms. in 6th it slowed to 183 at like 4,800 rpms. so, having said that, you wouldnt use 6th gear to achieve top speed, and you most likely arent going to use it when cruising. 5th gear is like .71, 6th is .58, and 7th is .49. i figure they just wanted to say it had 7 gears. if they had left it a 6 speed maybe they could have shaved a little more rotational mass and overall weight of the car. |

"A rep tells us the Shelby needs about 17,000 feet of tarmac to hit top speed, and that the SVT team used one of the world's largest test tracks, the Nardo Ring in southern Italy, to confirm the 200-mph claim."
Well I'd say thats a bit more distance than the vette had. Just sayin'. |
