Sorry to hear the news, hope things turn out for the best. I'm in for a fund raiser.

Jeff 03-13-2009 01:12 AM

Man Marcus I'm truly sorry to hear about this . I'm all for doing a fundraiser I don't have anything to race but I can donate some money .

Mike 03-13-2009 01:21 AM

I set up a paypal account kelsey@carolinahorsepower.com. If anyone wants to donate please paypal the money to kelsey@carolinahorsepower.com

Please only use "e-check" or paypal transfer. Do not use a credit card, that way we can raise as much money as possible, and avoid all the paypal fees remember no credit card.

if you have to use a credit card: paypal it to m202748@hotmail.com, fees will be less than the donation account, but still around 3%.

Accepting donations to kelsey@carolinahorsepower.com using paypal.

I will also edit Brandon's original post with a list of people who donated unless you tell me to keep it anonymous.

Mike 03-13-2009 01:47 AM

I also added information on top of the home page.

Marcus, this is unbelievable bad news. I wish your sister and your entire family all the best.

I think a show & shine/swap meet/race is a brilliant idea. True that alot of people will not bracket race for just bragging rights; but, I think, a trophy should be sufficient. I know I would do it for nothing more than seat time and giving to a worthy cause, but there are some "What's in it for me?" people out there. How much paved area is there at Midway? I could maybe even see if the local SCCA folks would like to set up an AutoX there. Hell, the more people you cater to, the greater the turnout can potentially be.

chrisheltra 03-13-2009 06:40 AM

I just got payed today. Gotta pay my bills and see how much I can donate.

BAD BOB 03-13-2009 07:46 AM

fundraisers are usually successful. I will donate some exhaust work or something like that to try and boost the sales. Anyone with a shop or a service she do the same if they can manage to. Times are tuff right now for almost everyone but if people throw thing out there in a raffle many will be happy to spend a few dollars and try there luck to win something to help them out! The Cox Family i have know since i was small, grew up with most of the kids and they are one of the greatest people i have ever met. They would do anything for anyone any they dont deserve this. They are strong and will make it through this but they sill need help with the bills so EVERYONE PLEASE DO WHATS IN THERE POWER TO HELP OUT THIS FAMILY IN NEED!

WWhittle 03-13-2009 08:59 AM

Sorry to hear the news. I have a little sister too and couldn't imagine what you and your family are going through.

As far as setting up a race- i would try to do it with as much notice as possible and try to pay attention to any other events on the same day. do test and tune and maybe a 8.0, 7.0, 6.0 shootout.

I don't know if i would do it at Midway. Their spectator turnout is usually pretty low and that is where the majority of your money is going to come from. I would try Bowman. Maybe the track would be willing to let you keep the gate fees and they could make the concessions and tech card fees. Just a thought.

Pesce Nero 03-13-2009 09:20 AM

i dont have 2 cents to rub together to donate so we better do something somewhere

BigdaddyDupree 03-13-2009 09:29 AM

man this has to be rough on marcus. but you and your family will be in my prayers buddy

slowgreen99 03-13-2009 09:55 AM

Well, the Bowman track guy is on here correct? Ronald I believe? If they can give me a schedule of what they have planned, then we may be able to work around it. On another note, Midways turnout would probably be a lot different due to the cause of the race. Thats why flyers and word of mouth are going to need to be the strongest part of this, aside from Kelsey.
A date is the first step towards getting it done. I work with one of the guys that used to work the track at Midway, and he is supossed to get me Frank Lamberts number. He said hed be the man to talk to, not the owner.

As for fund raisers, I am in to race too. Also, we could do a car show with proceeds going to the family too. I would think that we could raise a lot with both events.

+1 I am in, and extend the same offer's

Matts94Z28 03-13-2009 04:32 PM

I just sent $20 your way

BigdaddyDupree 03-13-2009 07:31 PM

Chillerman 03-13-2009 09:46 PM

Marcus, I don't even know you or your family. I've just read your posts on the forum. I realize this is a very, very difficult time for you and your family. I'm in tears at the moment trying to type this post as your sisters condition has truly touched & made me sad. I'm glad to know your family has God in their life. He truly is bigger than life, and miracles do happen. Please be strong for Kelsey, I can't even imagine what your feeling right now. No child should have to endure this. MUSC is definitely the place for her to be. The best childrens hospital around, period. We will keep Kelsey and your family in our prayers, and will also have our church family do the same.

I'm in no way any kind of organizer, but I'm willing to donate and participate in any kind of race that gets put together.

Marcus, I am so sorry to hear about your sister. No one deserves to go through an ordeal like this. The best possible thing you can do for your sister is keep yourself and your family positive, it will probably be one of the hardest things you have ever done but if you surround yourself with good friends it will help. Your family will be in my thoughts.
