Maybe all call-outs need to be in by Tuesday, and the race has to happen by the next Sunday, and you can only make one call out race.

Or do it once a month. All call outs in by the 15th, and all races happen the 1st weekend of the next month.

There really needs to be classes in all honesty Mike to make it fair. 90% of us don't have "street cars" acording to the law anyway. A street car is something that's 50 state legal, and my wife's mustang don't even make that bill, other than a prius or a smart car, there arent many "street cars" out there, thats why we alwayse argue about it and make up our own stips about AC, Gas tank ect. The law is the law plain and simple, you have a "street car" it should be 50 state legal.

Very true, maybe we can just keep it simple....you drive your car to the track? Plenty of trailers local if somebody breaks, and if it's a "street car" it should have insurance that can tow you if it breaks down. I know I've called roadside assistance from the track before.

Whaler 11-08-2009 04:50 PM

There are already too many stipulations. "50 state legal" ain't going to cut it. You can argue street cars all day long, but if it is tagged, insured and has working lights, and would not get a citation from the police, it would be a street car in South Carolina, which is where we live and race.
If you want classes, make it cars and trucks. If you want to avoid the list becoming stagnant like it has become, invert or shuffle the field every six months or yearly. That way the fastest car has no guarantee of staying on top, especially without ever racing a single race.

red99pony 11-08-2009 05:00 PM

+1 if you won't get a citation on the street = street car.

I have some ideas, but I want to hear what you guys have to say also.

#1 you guys (wade & morey) were right, and I was wrong. I need to keep the race cars off the list. But how do I do that?

Maybe something like proof of tags & insurance is all we need. I mean nobody is stupid enough to tag & insure their race car just to be on the TDL.

#2 Incentive. We need an incentive to make it more active.

-My idea is charge a small admission fee to be on the list. At the end of the season the person who "wins the most races" wins the pot. This gives everyone a chance to win. The top dog wins by staying the fastest, the people below him win by getting faster and trying to make their way up the list.

#3 The initial list.

Give me some ideas
How do you guys suggest setting up the initial list?

Maybe some of these big time grudge racers like ; Zak, Bad Bob, Randy, Brandon, Tyler, Jeff, Mike, Dkbmxer, etc.....will join the list if there is some sort of incentive....but also I want it to be for just fun, no grudge racing, no stipulations, just good ole fashion heads up racing.

#1 I think tags and insurance would cover that. I don't agree with tire limitations/or forcing someone to drive all the way to the track. There is really no fair way to enforce various stipulations, because people will always find something to whine about to benefit them.

#2 your proposed incentive looks good

#3 for the initial list draw names from a hat or do something to make it random. After that point everyone has to race to get there standings.

The main thing that needs to be stressed for this list to be successful is racing and having fun. Once it turns into a shit slinging, dick measuring contest all hope is lost.

Based on your suggestions and pending my car being finished i would like to take place in something like this.

How about $20 bet per race and you take $10 of it stick it in a pot for the end of the season. That means the winner broke even for the race $15 track entry - $15 in gas equals the $30 you win. Then at the end of the season who ever won the most races whens the pot. If we have 40 races the pot would be $400.

bwelch 11-08-2009 05:06 PM

oh yeah. x2 on the strippers:hysterical:

sounds like a good idea. Everyone give that some thought.

I still think 20 per race may be too much. But it may work.

I also think that the owner of the vehicle drive his or her car/truck.

98Camarod 11-08-2009 06:46 PM

pending my transmission actually working I'll try and get in on this action before we get sent else where. But for the 50 state legal thing, that's just not going to happen. I say make two lists, one for registered vehicles with insurance and another for race cars.

+1

Maybe Ill put the SLK on the 50 state legal list and the L on the race car list.

Illusions 11-08-2009 07:35 PM

I won't pay to be on a list. I go to the track to race and see how well the truck does. I don't grudge race or race for money. my gate fee is good enough. but doesn't matter anyway since the blazer is a turtle. :) I go to the track to have fun. once money is involved the fun ends.

I agree with this idea. I still believe the list should be shuffled to keep the racing happening. The incentive will help with that.

I agree with you.

I spend enough money I dont have on this hobby to go betting more money I dont have on it. If others want to bet money on my truck by all means feel welcome but thats not how I roll.

BTW I think Derrick(sp?) and I have had the most successful TDL races on here and none of them involved money.

BAD BOB 11-08-2009 10:13 PM

just post the final decision of what it will consist of. i can really read all this stuff and understand it so just clarify once it is decided! Thanks

red99pony 11-08-2009 10:47 PM

i might pay a small fee once but i won't pay each race. you are already out 15 to get in the gate plus fuel to get there. besides money would take the fun out of it anyway, always does.

x2 on the one time fee.

bwelch 11-09-2009 02:15 AM

I dont think there will be much participation with the one time fee thing personally. If somebody calls me out then I probably want waste the time to come if the end prize is a $100 gift card at walmart. I just want go to the track two weeks and I will have my $100 to spend at walmart.I still think we should have a CHP bracket race with a small buy in and if you breake out then you can buy back in once if you want.

Illusions 11-09-2009 07:55 AM

I've never been involved with a TDL that money was tied to and will not start now. You want money to be involved in races? Well thats where th e grudge section and budget grudge section is all about NOT the TDL. TDL should be for fun. Grudge racing sections should be for all the smack talk and money races.
