I have an 8 year old Toshiba and a 6 month old Toshiba personally, and 4 Toshiba's in the service department for programming and service work, and have had no problems with any of them except for having Mike fix my computer programming screw ups..:bigthumb:

Edit: To add to that, I have a macbook for everyday use which I've never had a single issue with in over 3 years, not one. For tuning I use one of those cheap little ee pc netbooks. Works like a charm.

after some research,

performance wise a macbook pro 15" would cost 2200 to compare to a 1500 dollar dell xps 15

both quad core i7's, 8gb ram, 750gd. same laptops, 700 dollar difference. but they are pretty to look at IMHO.

if dell's xps 15 could go with a 560m or greater graphics card id be all over it, the 540m is only half as fast.

The only thing stopping me from buying a HP DV6TQE is the reviews from you guys. but since it comes with a free XBOX 360, that would put me under my 1000 price tag goal, and it would be faster than any 15" mac for only 40% of the price.

wish me luck, thanks everyone.

Inverters have very dirty power, and it is recommended (by HPTuners) to not use one "While" flashing.

It would just be charging the battery. So the battery in the laptop would be getting the dirty power not the laptop itself. The laptop itself would be getting clean power from the laptop battery

perm102 08-05-2011 11:43 PM

Are you going to run 64bit?

the dirty power and feed back frequencies get pumped back into the cars electronics. ever see a line-loc, nitous solenoid or relay with an Oscilloscope? 600v of flyback voltage.

2 years running strong, 32 bit died when systems became standard with 4gb of ram

perm102 08-05-2011 11:51 PM

You can run it with the 4gb but when you were talking 8gb I wanted to make sure you were going 64bit. We have some legacy apps at work that don't like 64.

I ended up trashing mine before the warranty expired, but good luck anyways.

I have had no problems out of the 3 HPs we have...

csikx 08-07-2011 09:33 AM

The only gripe I have about Mac, is that they don't make a a computer for people who just surf the internet and check e-mail. No way in hell, I'm paying $900+ to do that.

My latest laptop (about 1.5 years old) is an Acer and I love it. It hasn't given me any problems, and Windows 7 is great. To boot, it was a Best Buy special (brand new) for $250.

In the end, it's whatever works for you. Good luck with the new purchase!

chrisheltra 08-07-2011 11:00 AM

If you want something to just surf the net and do some tuning I would recommend getting a netbook. Otherwise Id buy another Acer if I wanted to do some medium gaming and photo editing.

Good luck with the HP.
