Low timing will help a stock motor take a beating and survive for awhile.

i hooked the boost controller up today, did some quick pulls. 9psi at 3700 rpms and holds, its like getting hit from behind with a space shuttle, after that, im just along for the ride.. I let off at 90 mph because i felt the ass end start to try and come around on me. anyways. from 50-87mph i dropped 4 tenths from the wg spring. thats right, 4 tenths. 9's are so close, i can taste them!!!

you're running 2.5 times the timing i am, im at a solid 8* at wot under boost

SOADweskey 09-17-2011 08:39 AM

His timing does drop tight after full boost, but that does seem a bit high when it hit full boost.

Why so low? How much compression/ boost are you running? PM if you don't want to post it.

Looking good Carl.

Looking good Carl.

compression is around 9.8:1 and the motor is seeing 14lbs of boost. I'm also on e85. I'm still on the start up tune, havnt messed with it at all since i got the car together. It has a lot of potential for more power i just need to get the chassis working better before I turn it up. It seems to be making decent power where it is now, it trapped 121mph last weekend in the 1/8th, with no timing and relitavely low boost.

because race car! every part of your engine is more efficient than mine, from the heads, intake manifold, cam and turbo.

your also above 1k hp. 8 degrees is probably fine for that race mota.
