Talked to Bryan over at AES engines for about 45 minutes yesterday. He wouldn't get 100% onboard with me about a big HP aluminum 5.3L but didn't say it's wasn't a good idea either. Just some aluminum blocks are stronger then others and to remember it is a factory casting. We ended the conversation with him saying he would "just try it and it see what happens".
We did go over some assembly prices and I guess he thought I was ballin because we wasn't even close on prices. This is the place I've been locked in on for a while for the assembly. Either Eagle or Callies Compstart, i'm leaning toward Callies. Next is deciding on 328ci or do the 4" stroke for a 363ci. http://www.calspeedperformance.com/p...mbly%205.3.htm http://www.calspeedperformance.com/p...mbly%205.3.htm |

After talking to a couple engine builders about my goals, I was recommend/suggested to go iron block. Goal was 1000 wheel HP, however with the weight and trans-brake setup, they "recommended" iron.
I decide on a budget build 5.3 bored to 5.7 short block by TMS with Callie rods/Diamond pistions, ARP mains. It's been solid to date. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps7427f7a2.jpg |
Looks damn good Rob!! Looking forward to following this progress:mrgreen:
