Need an adaptor for your laptop to tune your MSD?

Drive your street car to the mall and pick one up.

Have you figured out what kind of fuel mileage you are getting with your car yet? I know you dont have 2nd gear. But sorta curious.

ShawnBoyMoody 05-27-2012 02:32 PM

Lol no. It sucks fuel I'll say that.

Hi Jaime.

MonteC 05-27-2012 10:17 PM

Why no second gear? Because racecar!

ShawnBoyMoody 06-04-2012 09:28 AM

Well ran the car for the first time last night... here's the slip.

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...-07-16_160.jpg

Am I happy with it?.... I'm okay with it. I told Zac and Matt months ago I thought it would run the same time the red car went on motor...7.87 was the fastest it ever went. So it did what I thought it would. I think she will go 7.50s though. The 1-2 shift is very soft and delayed. Converter seems tight as well but might do better on the gas. 60 ft times sucked but the MPH seemed strong. It was also brought to my attention that the rearend is crooked in the wheel well. I knew it wasnt centered but I didnt realize it was crooked. So there it is. We got a baseline now, time to whittle it down. (No pun intended lol)

ForceFed4g63 06-04-2012 09:44 AM

Nice, I'm sure you'll get that 60 down too. Not too shabby for a leftover 5.3 on motor.

chrisheltra 06-04-2012 09:49 AM

Congrats. I assume you got a new trans in if you were able to use 2nd?

ShawnBoyMoody 06-04-2012 10:09 AM

Yeah I picked up another transmission.

bwelch 06-04-2012 10:11 AM

What was the timing at? And what jets are in the carb?

Thanks. Def gonna try and improve the 60 ft. Not too bad at all for what I have in it. Il take a 7.75 all day with an old worn out Tahoe mota. :bigthumb:

Chillerman 06-04-2012 10:21 AM

Shawn the car looked good last night and is running good. Once you get your trans to shift good, the et should get a little better. Your converter is indeed tight and that shows in the 60'. Mph is really strong. Car should do some high 11's in the 1/4. Your converter might like the gas though. Just keep the car straight on the gas just like I did last night! Lol!

Tried about every one of the MSD timing curve pills with no real change. It seemed to run about 7.78 regardless. It seemed to like the timing brought in quickly tho with the number 6 pill, which is what was in there when I ran Austin. That was also the 7.75 pass. MPH was between 91-94 pretty much every pass. I don't even remember what jets are in the carb. I can tell you its untouched from the Windsor. Only the idle screw has been adjusted.
