probably makes about the same power as my old gxp... that thing saw an untold number of 6500rpm power shifts without issue

Time to go 4L80E.

I'm finally under 3,000lbs. Plus the extra 2 gears are a must.

if you're under 3000lbs and killing it like that with anything other than 7500rpm launches on a 28" slick you need to change whatever you're doing.

Most likely going to do PPGs $15,000 sequential conversion.

RoadconeTuning 09-03-2015 06:21 AM

there's a group of FRS/BRZ guys in atlanta waiting on their Quaiffe sequentials to show up. I think the box itself is 12k. most figure its going to end up costing 20k by the time you get it mounted and have something to control it. Hit up Doug Wilks at DBW Motorsports if you're seriously going sequential. They got tired of ripping the teeth off of 4th around 450whp and thats the only option.

The only gulf mirage in existence was at this shop in Norcross, GA then as well. no pictures of it as they were kind of worried about it.

The closer ratios of the 4L80E do seem to be better for road racing than the original 4L65E ratios. With the T56, you do get one extra gear below the 1.00 direct ratio, plus 1 extra OD gear.

1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th
TH700R4/4L60E/4L65E (OEM) 3.06, 1.63, 1.00, 0.70
4L80E/4L85E (OEM) 2.48, 1.48, 1.00, 0.75
T56 (GM) 1998-2002 2.66, 1.78, 1.30, 1.00, 0.74, 0.50,

One thing to keep in mind with high HP T56 applications is that the factory Dexron fluid can't handle high torque loads. Synchromesh is a little heavier but not too thick as to cause problems shifting when cold.

good deal on a T56:

Keep an eye on that fpr to fuel rail Wes... I've seen the weight of the fpr and vibrations snap the end off and burn the car to the ground.

Hmmm, good point, any suggestions for preventing that? Is there a relocate kit or something?

RoadconeTuning 09-25-2015 08:39 AM

just figure out a place to mount it and buy a couple of pieces of hose.

ForceFed4g63 09-25-2015 10:40 AM

Somewhere close to the firewall would be ideal, shouldn't be hard.

I've been running Motul. Costs an arm and a leg but it is what Tremec recommends to its race teams.

ATL fuel cell on its way. Cage is done... 82hours + materials... Just need to run fire suppression lines now, fab the aluminum trunk panel/fuel cell mounting, paint the car, etc.

I also have a carbon fiber roof panel being made.
