Air base is having a 5k run on base open to the public. November 11th I think. 8am. Selling tshirts all proceeds goto ALS research.

Do any of you other runners ever get shin splints? What was your remedy for them?
|
rest, ice, compression, elevation... also, when i used to get them, i would draw the cursive, uppercase alphabet with my big toe on each leg a couple times a day... if you can figure out a way to strap a couple ounces of weight (a soup can or something similar in weight) to your foot after the first week or so, it will help also... those two things usually work for me

I think I was just running too much too often and my legs need a break. Im gonna take a few weeks to rest then get back to it. I just hope I dont lose my motivation. |
Clock said 28:45, BUT i wont know what my exact time will be until they email me. Should be close to 28:00.
Id also like to add, HOLY SHIT SLOW PEOPLE. If you dont get up front, your time will reflect it. I probably could have run it in 27 flat. But god damn I was passing people all the way to the finish line. |

Joe. If youve got something to say, then say it.

hahahah awesome. i hate running because of the impact and i always rode bikes.... i just recently started running and right now i get 2.5 to 2.75 miles in 30 minutes. i want to be at 3+ within a month or two. (doing it in skate shoes too ftw lol)
poor joe got hustled. |
Was gonna run the race for the cure, but headed up to street thunder instead. Got it 12 miles yesterday though. Legs are a little sore today lol

Shin splints are from repeated impact to the heel....Switch shoes, or take the minimalist approach, and switch to barefoot style running, where you run on the ball of the foot....
