:( Well after all that time, money and hard work, the motor blew last night.Maybe we can get a package deal from JDM on a couple of motors :gears: Details to follow!!!!!

05Saleen 05-06-2007 12:08 PM

That SUCKS!!! Sorry to hear that.

Mike 05-06-2007 12:13 PM

I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm sure he will be back better than ever. It makes me wonder if there was a problem with the truck before he bought it.

LXtasy 05-06-2007 12:37 PM

OUCH. What tune did he have?

Can I get in on that deal, looks like I need a new motor now too. Maybe we can get a group buy. Are you thinking short block or long block?

Must be nice to have a money tree.

Richard Head 05-07-2007 09:50 PM

I was running a street tune from JDM with 14 lbs of boost.

Bill and Jason, sorry to hear about your motors.

Bill, in what gear and how fast were you going when this happened? There have been many stories on all of the national boards about engine failures at high speed (3rd or 4th gear), and/or running them hard in cold weather. Since it wasn't cold out, I would assume that would be ruled out.

Did you dyno the truck to check air/fuel before running it hard?

Richard Head 05-08-2007 07:01 AM

Dont know how fast or rpm's since I was not driving, but it was in 3rd or 4th at well over 100mph. I had run it hard a few times my self and all seemed well. Had not had an chance to get it to the dyno. Had a few more things to do (exhaust) and pull the wipple back off to change oil for a flush and then would have checked the tune.

Whaler 05-08-2007 07:30 AM

Well, I'm sure it will be better than ever, now. Good luck with everything.

Sorry to hear man but that's why you never beat on a vehicle before you put it on the dyno to check the A/F. I've had "custom" email tunes that when I went to the dyno my car was crazy lean....like 14-15 AFR!!! You never know what could be wrong so it's always best to just eat the $50 to spend on a dyno to be safe instead of 5K for a motor....

Whaler 05-08-2007 05:51 PM

5K???????
5 Grand won't even touch it. He'll be in for 10-15k before it's over. That's why I would have to find a new home if mine blew.

HRSPOWR 05-08-2007 06:07 PM

If I spend any more money on my vehicles, Larry and I may be living together like the odd couple.
