I was going to go to the track last night but something popped up, kind of glad I didn't go now. |
Like the other threads started on this, the censors will make this thread disappear

This thread will get deleted too and this will continue to be a big elephant in the room on this site.
Instead of deleting it, how about leave it and everyone can show support for everyone involved. It's a rough time for both sides of the accident I am sure. It was a freak, sad accident, but it was still an accident. I feel bad for Barry's family and also Tara and her family. This is a time for friends and family to show support and help everyone involved get through it. This is already public information on every other site- so of ALL sites, CHP should be the one to show some support for Tara. There is no need to sweep it under the rug. It was an accident. Barry was a good man and will be missed and may he rest in peace. |

I edited that last post if you want to do the same.

I agree. My prayers go out to everyone involved, the CHP family will support the members here, no reason to delete this thread. If anybody involved needs anything I will be happy to do it. |

This could be why they dont want any second hand info being posted on a local website. Just saying.

Wow! Sad to hear. My condolence to the family.
|
when it's someones time to go there is nothing anyone could do to change that
Prayers to both families |
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all involved. This was an accident. I know this has to be very hard for everyone involved to deal with. The CHP Family will come together and show their support for those involved.
|
Was Barry a member on here or go to any of the local events? Not sure if I knew him or not.
|
Was this a red SS?
|
May all involved find peace.
|
I would have preferred for this thread to stay on CHP rather than having a bunch of idiots on YB that don't know anyone involved throwing in their two cents.
|
It is indeed a very sad time. I was there but was getting the car ready for a nitrous pass when the accident occured. I spoke to Tara afterwards before I knew of the fatality. All family's involved will be in our prayers. We will continue to show our support for those affected by this.
|
Prayers to both familys. Accidents happen, and it was his time to go home. Keep your head up and stay strong.
|
very sad to hear. My condolence to the family.
|
Very sad for sure. My prayers go out to both families involved.
|
I'm sorry for this tragic accident, and hope everyone involved will be blessed with the support they need.
|
Wow, i'm very sorry to hear this. I hope the families stay strong and they will be in our prayers. I often pray before I race, racing is dangerous, no two ways about it.

DORCHESTER — A driver died at the Dorchester Dragway Sunday night after his truck struck another racer, flipped and hit and concrete pole.
Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet identified the man as 40-year-old Barry Wright. Nisbet said Wright had been racing a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck against a Ford Mustang when the Mustang lost control and spun around. The back end of the Mustang hit the back end of the pickup, causing Wright to lose control and roll over, according to Nisbet. He said the truck pinned Wright against a post. Nisbet said Wright died of positional asphyxia, meaning he couldn’t breathe. Dorchester County sheriff’s Maj. John Garrison said the other driver was not injured in the 9:15 p.m. crash. |

If you go to the track try to take every precaution possible to remain as safe as possible but know you are not guaranteed to survive and get to go home to your loved ones. This sports consequences are far greater than its rewards. |
Last night was a real eye opener for me, ive seen plenty of wrecks but for some reason this one woke me up. Was a serious tragedy for everyone involved. Accidents happen and like has been said before, it was just his time to go. After last night im looking into a roll cage and helmet, could have just as easily been any one of us out there. All of my prayers go to his family and friends.

Thoughts and prayers to everyone involved.

Prayers for all involved.

Everyone will be in my prayers that were involved.
|
Wow. Sorry to hear. Will keep all involved in our prayers.
|
Prayers for all involved. Big thanks to Colin for sticking around with Rob and Tara until they could go home. Love you guys, hope your doing okay. Rest in peace Mr. Wright.
|
Very sad to hear, my condolences to all his friends and family.

Was checking for an obituary and found this. I feel they could have left out Taras name but it is what it is now.
http://www.postandcourier.com/news/2...way-kills-man/ DORCHESTER -- The Dorchester Dragway is a place where roaring engines, squealing tires and white-knuckle excitement are the norm. On Sunday, it became a place of tragedy. Barry Wright, 40, of North Charleston sat behind the wheel of a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck at the Dorchester Dragway around 9:15 p.m. Tara Griffin, a 24-year-old Summerville woman, drove a white Ford Mustang in the next lane over. At some point after they gunned it off the line, the back of the Mustang "got loose," from Griffin, she told Dorchester County deputies. Her car spun and clipped the back of Wright's truck. Wright lost control, and the truck rolled over, according to County Coroner Chris Nisbet. The truck pinned Wright against one of the light timing poles, where Wright died of positional asphyxia, Nisbet said. Wright became trapped inside his truck and couldn't breathe. He had died by the time rescue workers arrived. Gerald Mishoe, a regular at the track, said the racing usually goes well into the night and sometimes into morning. On Sunday, with Wright's truck attached to the timing pole and his mother crying, Mishoe said he found himself anxious to leave. "I've never seen anyone killed or hurt seriously," he said. The Delee family opened the Dorchester Dragway more than 25 years ago off U.S. Highway 78 just past the Oakridge Landfill. Family members believe their strip, an old cotton field that four brothers converted into a race track, marked the first minority- owned dragway. People gather there every Sunday night to barbecue, sell refreshments and cheer on their favorite cars. Spectators pay $5 to get into the weekly "grudge matches." |
I Like(not really) how they turned it into a promotional ad at the end.
|
I'm really biting my tongue over there, but it's just better that way.

I have been going to Dorchester since the gates opened, as a matter of fact Elijah Sr, pulled me from drinking and street racing to organized racing. In the 25 plus years of racing I have heard of more fatalities in local street racing scene than at any of the local tracks. From my point of view, not even 10 feet away from the vehicles on the starting line, it was a definate freak accident. My prayers go out to both families involved.

Like Gerald said "If I don't like the station I change the channel." These people need to learn that and stop trying to make others conform to their beliefs and opinions. Because regardless of what they say this accident will only bring all of us closer. |
