Suspension
im leaning toward Maxim Motorsports rear suspension kit or Wolfe Racing rear kit.. has anyone used any of these on a straight axle? they include UCA,LCA, and sway bar..
|
i got some upr solid double adj uppers and solid rear end bushings for an 8.8 if your interested
|
I have MM lowers on mine and know several others with Wolfe parts. Either or work very well.
|
i was told to stay away from all upr products...hmm well wolfes kit is $719 and MM is $814 and the MM doesnt come with uppers..is it worth the extra$$?

OP, maybe I missed it but have you already done the SRA swap?

Ive got something to add on this subject, being I built the baddest 302 based Fox whatever lived second only to Chris Tutens car. (I got jokes) Anywho I find myself in the market for a front tubular cross member for my current project and have done a bunch of research on the subject. First let me say my red car was 100% UPR suspension. Pro-Series rear suspension with Lakewood 50/50's and 4 cyl springs with one coil cut off. I had their front suspension with 1" shorter than stock arms and Lakewood 90/10's up front. Car went a best of 1.31 60 ft on drag radials and went 1.34-1.35 every other time. Not the fastest but not too shabby IMHO.
Now the bad. The UPR front K-member was built incorrectly and I literally had to cut the drivers side motor mount plate off with a plasma. Then set the engine back in the car, line up the mount and tack it, pull the motor and fully weld the mount and then set the motor back in. That's unacceptable IMO when you pay 700 bucks for a product. As I saw on another forum "UPR will shit in a box and call it a quality product". Lmao. That being said I may end up buying the UPR K-member again cause they are about the cheapest full Chromoly K-member on the market. If it aint 100% perfect they are gonna get it back untill they get it right. I would buy their rear pro-series kit again in a lil minute. |
in the progress! and im talking about quality and longevity..and i heard from multiple people/companys that upr falls apart after a while...

One other opinion on Maximum Motor Sports. If I where road racing I would consider nothing but MM. I feel they are the best in the business. I do feel for drag racing their stuff is too heavy and overbuilt. I really like Team Z's stuff and Dave @ Team Z seams to be about the nicest most helpful guy on the planet when it comes to getting your car going fast. I'd buy his stuff but I dont like the way his K-member drops the steering rack a full inch lower than stock. His rear suspension however is tits.

TEAM Z has some awesome stuff as well. Not too pricy, but not on UPR's level lmao

I'm with slowgreen on this one. UPR is pretty good stuff for the money.

There are a couple cars on this board that have 1.2x 60fts on upr junk!
|
without tubs?..i just wanna hook on a dirt road
|
Yes without tubs.
|
whats it take for a fatass cobra to hook like that?
|
I haven't had any problems with UPR or Team Z parts, but I have to say for "K" members I will only buy Anthony Jones Engineering (AJE). I have never tried AJE suspension components, but if they are like their "K" members, they are good.
|
My car will 60ft in the 1.2's on radials with UPR stuff. John Urist is much faster than that on UPR. And no 9.60 is not fast. I base this on everyone slower that me is not fast and everyone quicker than me is fast.

Racecraft if you want the best, but it's pricey. UPR is plenty good enough for what you want to do. Team Z is good, so is Wolfe.
I would say that they are all overkill for you so you mine as well save some money and get UPR. |
i got some UPR uppers and solid housing bushings for sale
|
sounds good. thanks everyone for the info. this is the set-up im thinking...
Steeda Drag Springs Strange 10 way adjustable shocks Maximum Motorsports adjustable LCAs UPR Pro series double adjustable UCAs Team Z sway bar is this over kill for a street car? |
