The video comments on the page give me a freaking headache.

PapaBear 02-29-2012 06:57 AM

Both of those cars were on a show on the History channel or discovery channel the other day called LA street racing. I think the Monte had a different shop's name in the show though.

Some of the crap they were doing in that show was REAL sketchy.....

MonteC 02-29-2012 08:06 AM

Oh nice. Look at the school bus.

Derek 02-29-2012 09:27 AM

Wtf that's pretty damn irresponsible. They can avoid the law but these types of street racing videos that put the public In direct danger just fuel the fire for government making it harder for everyone else. Think about it if the law can't stop this type of activity they just ask help from Washington and then they make it harder to buy parts or stricter inspections. Look what kind of wieght the EPA has thrown around in the diesel world. I truly believe that I will see a time when we will have to apply for permits to prove that the camshaft I buy is going for an offroad vehical. My rant for this year lol.

k5hart 02-29-2012 09:51 AM

How do they get away with that crap! Very stupid!

snakeplissken 02-29-2012 11:36 AM

"I LOST AND PAIDED UP".

Retards.

blubyu87gt 02-29-2012 12:12 PM

Lol looks like pretty normal street racing to me.... Am I missing something?

04ctd 02-29-2012 12:17 PM

did you see the amount of rubber in their launch pad? they do that pretty often

were the cars at the stop light blocking traffic, or waiting on the light?

PapaBear 02-29-2012 12:30 PM

You guys need to find that episode I was talking about. When I get home I'll find the name of it, but it explains all of this kind of racing that is going on out there. BIG money, but lots of the guys are tired of getting arrested, and are using the street races (with other drivers) to fund their "on-track" racing, moving into legitimate drag racing at organized tracks. It was a pretty good show.

But yes, there is a street (I think it is in Compton) that they call the drag strip. They do this there every night as it is an industrial area and is pretty much a ghost town after dark.

Seeing this one in the day is weird though, as every race they showed on that show was at night.

They actually prep the launch area the same as at the track per the show.

blubyu87gt 02-29-2012 12:40 PM

That's why I don't see where the sketch part of it is... Besides the fact that there isn't a white person in sight lol!

They have traffic blocked for the most part, prepared the launch area. And there are bystanders either watching and or to keep people from getting in the line of fire. That's a shit ton more then they do at the TX2K events on the freeway that everyone thinks is so bad ass...

Silver-Dollar 02-29-2012 01:41 PM

The Lorax disapproves.

Silver-Dollar 02-29-2012 01:44 PM

I think that was a taco wagon and not a school bus.

Matts94Z28 02-29-2012 01:54 PM

Papa bear, you are talking about 135th and Main in compton. Look it up on google maps.

The sketchyness comes from how bad the Monte gets out it shape, mid day racing and the obvious traffic. Not to mention the guys who don't even get out of the road.

Check out more of their videos. They do dumb stuff all the time.

Safer than bowman, no concrete walls to run up on, just buildings and buses to hit.

bababuschka 02-29-2012 05:27 PM

You can see the rubber laid down from an aerial view, that's pretty impressive

SOADweskey 02-29-2012 10:09 PM

Yeah, that's the house of hook in Compton. A whole lot of street racing there by really fast guys.

On a related note you will see more of this as I just found out today that Southern CA's last 1/4 mile strip in Fontana has closed up shop and last month the 1/8th in Irwindale closed so now there is no legal places to drag race within a 3 hour drive of Los Angeles.

Matts94Z28 02-29-2012 10:20 PM

Fontana is down for some environmental testing, it's not closed for good... Yet.

CoppertopT/A 02-29-2012 10:49 PM

isn't that the same intersection they used on National geographic la street racing

Matts94Z28 02-29-2012 10:57 PM

yes

CoppertopT/A 02-29-2012 11:03 PM

you would think with all the publicity of that road cops would set up a toll booth and hand out time slips and tickets

Shit most the cops when I was down in So-Cal and even in Sacramento would stop, block, and redirect the traffic for us ...

Matts94Z28 02-29-2012 11:07 PM

They impounded the CPR car this past Saturday actually. They were caught testing, but rumor has it they got the car back.

Kwiksilver 02-29-2012 11:47 PM

[Yella]
Man I used to fuck it up at Compton

Just yesterday a superior court order suspended all drag racing at Fontana due to resident's noise complaints.

LXtasy 03-01-2012 08:50 AM

I wonder why drag strips are built near neighborhoods instead way out in the country.

Sarcastic

MARTYROBBINS 03-01-2012 09:12 AM

Thier not the tracks where there and asshole move the neighborhoods in to the area then bitch about the noise it pisses me off pomona is not that far from L.A. and the peterson foundation are trying to reopen irwindale as a historic site and run limmited dates

did not read the last line:hide:

shdw on th sun 03-01-2012 04:23 PM

^ that was really hard to read

HRSPOWR 03-01-2012 05:04 PM

That video was more like a race to find traction! If you have more than about 500 ft/lbs of torque on a lightened vehicle there is no way you can even dream about getting traction, unless you have huge tubs and funny car tires mounted on back (which of course is not street legal and strictly enforced by the CHP).

Hope they have good life insurance when a car pulls out in front of them at 150 mph. You can never block every side road for 1/4 - 1/2 mile.

I disagree. decent tires, good suspension, and some pimp juice problem solved.

Qwik_Sn95 03-01-2012 09:31 PM

Road infront of my house looks like that. I'm late to work on a regular.

Didn't this same kind of crap shut down cooper river about 8 years ago?

MARTYROBBINS 03-02-2012 12:41 AM

yes it did then they started the water and sewer along with most of the streets and the company went bankrupt after all the enviromental cleaning they had to do on the land
