Stage II complete

Just had my FAST 102mm intake painted. I can't stand the light gray color they come from the factory. This is more subtle and to my taste.

I also had spoiler wrapped in 3M Di-NOC. I am also having several other components covered in this material. The stuff is absolutely amazing.

I'm going to do my Fuel Injector Covers just like these in the Di-NOC material as well. It will match the intake & the car.

Anyways, just sharing in the evolution of the transformation.

Awesome, but stop sitting on the job in a rolling chair. You'll never get done.

Do you have to treat them with the tire still on the rim? I thought about doing the wheels on my F-150 with that stuff.

My badges, front splitter and side markers should be done later this week. Then I just have to go back to N.C. to pick them up.

Going to get my tires mounted on my new wheels tomorrow. :bigthumb:

Carlrx7 05-10-2012 09:35 PM

i did my center console in the same stuff, PITA!

http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...7/ef897cb7.jpg

also did the door buttons and steering wheel spokes

Good luck with the fuel rails, the heat in the engine bay is going to undo all the stretching to make it fit.

Why not just use the index cards that come with the kit?

Jeff, who is doing the 3M wrap?

There is actually a bonding agent you can apply if you want the material to stick stronger.

But I doubt the engine compartment gets as hot as the direct heat of a heat gun which is what it pretty much takes to get this stuff to release, as you know.

Very nice job on the console btw! I'm doing the console, control panels on each side of the cluster, steering wheel panels and door controls.

Same guy who did your tail lights. I'm getting ready to order a huge roll of the stuff; matte black and graphite gray.

Mustangscotty 05-10-2012 10:23 PM

where do you get the roll from?

ForceFed4g63 05-10-2012 11:18 PM

Looks good, don't know about the spoiler though. I also would have kept the red R on the intake, otherwise everything looks great!

There are several vendors that sell it. Just go to google, type in 3M Di-NOC and pick a site. It is pretty much the same price for everyone The 120" x 48" roll is about $240 'ish no matter where you look.

It may be tough to not booger up the coating remounting the tires, which is why I was going to wait until I replace the tires before I sprayed mine.

Good luck with it.

I think theres been a misunderstanding. Im not getting new tires Im taking the wheels off of the car to spray them instead of doing the wheels on the car. I plan on using the index cards and spraying the wheels with the tires on them after they dry Im going to rotate my tires and remount the wheels to the car.

For some reason he is only selling graphite, brown and white. That may be why he is a tad cheaper; those colors are in far less demand than matte and gloss black.

I'll contact him to verify. Thanks for the tip Chris!!!

Glad to hear that some of your performance work backlog is easing up and allowing you to get some painting done. Are you guys gonna bring the Supercharged Challenger down to charleston to dyno tune it?

Be sure to post pics of the Model A, when its done.
