Been a while. Changes
Haven't been on here in a while! Normally I never run across anyone or know of anyone around me now.
I'm stationed in Cherry point NC. Normally hit up Fayetteville when the car is together. Made some changes to the car so I can fit some different classes around here. Cleaned up the interior. I'm also repainting the engine bay because of that melted head I had a while back. Still the cars best time is 9.72@149 6.3@118 1/8 on that pass. Made 801whp / mustang dyno. This go around I want 1000whp on the dyno and an 8sec pass. We shall see! Enjoy the pictures. See you at the track! This: https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...72497759_n.jpg To This: https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...81259004_n.jpg https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...27824899_n.jpg https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...46974183_n.jpg The flake! https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...61478997_n.jpg Interior: Before: https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot..._5229545_n.jpg After: https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...02070934_n.jpg https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...48405594_n.jpg https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...90114965_n.jpg A little safety! https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...70853552_n.jpg The new gears! Fuck Syncros! https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...78766690_n.jpg Also the new block is hard blocked 90% so I can still use the water pump to push coolant through the head some. It lifted the head at 40psi last year so 50psi this year should do the trick! :bigthumb: |
I remember seeing you make a few passes at Dorchester. Didn't see it make a successfull full pass, but your car is badass! Post up videos when you do make it back to the track!
|
is there no part of the cage over your head and supporting the A-pillars in the event of a rollover? other than that, looks/sounds like a badass build :bigthumb:

I have a couple of the 9s passes I can put up. Hopefully it just keeps getting faster. Quote:
Not yet. If I knew better back when I put it in I would have had a chromoly 10pt installed. This one will be cut out and a new one installed once the car is back together and running. |
Purple FTW!

^ a little inspiration for you :) also, a good brain to pick if (or more like when) you start running into drivetrain issues with the "best of the best" in dsm components at over 1xxxhp :) for those who dont want to read through the thread to find videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Cu0pKctETY&hd=1 |
Yeah myself and John are good friends. I have already destroy gears in a PPG dogbox and at $900 a repair for that thing I called it quits for the damn thing.
My car is pretty light so I get away with alot more than John does with his. That's actually me recording the video haha. Those two cars both are on the shep/PPG dogbox trans. Both just sent them in for repairs costing over 2k..... Mike's car the red 2g is amazing. Complete removable front end, thats engine and all in one shot. It's sporting an 8.8 rear puts down over 1100whp. |
good shit :bigthumb: that little car and the stuff y'all do has always impressed me. can't wait to see this one come together (and hopefully stay that way!)
edit: just realized that video is on your youtube page lol |
Good to see you Chris! Looks like you're making good progress, keep us updated.

Is this the same car from Beaufort a few years ago?

Thought so. I rember this car around Savannah.

Man how can you not go auto these days!? The support is finally coming around. If I was to stumble back into the DSM camp and it may happen, without a doubt my setup would be like one of these cars. I do have have 8 years of playing with them, owned 5 in all.
Old vids and all 3 of these guys are faster now, but to lazy to search for the latest. In short, 5.5's 8th and not much slower in the streets = game face and make that money! Old clips, but good shit. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/jLoQEjLo7V0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/eABvidBFCMg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/2B9w83dzpZ0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Can't watch the vids but I'm betting one of them is Jeff Bush at English. He's had me convinced that auto is the way to go for a while now. If I get back into one it will def be auto. I've been trying to convince Chris to go auto for a while now lol.

Ok.

I remember when Rob brought his to dorchester one day and blew the entire end off the intercooler in the front of the car. Thats boost..:bigthumb:
|
Weve got a 2g awd I mess with. On a stock 6 bolt with a holset it was fast on the street. Changing setups now with a rod piston combo and a nice auto setup.
|
Id rather fix my human error for driving than replace it ;)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhnoh...e_gdata_player Yeah the autos make it easy to go fast but I like driving my car down the track not riding in it. |
8.27 all downhill!!
|
Yea I dont see how those times could be accuret being all downhill.
|
I wish we had a NHRA 1/4 mile track thats extra wide like that. I think just outside Summerville would work out nicely.. ow and a E85 pump on site. :cheers
|
Doesn't look downhill. It just goes uphill at the end. Carolina looks the same way

Yea jackson is just like that now that I think of it.
|
Ha that's what everyone was saying. There's a track in Tennessee that I hit a while back and I had to stay in it through the traps to make it up the damn hill
Then everyone called bullshit on my 116mph on a 30r turbo. That 8.27 was uphill at the end. |
Had to take a break and pay off some debt / family time / kid shit....
It's finally almost done. Goals are to make it down the track and back alive. 1000whp /mustang dyno 8.99 1/4 160s mph Should be fun :) https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...03596301_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...75427745_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n...74783132_n.jpg |
Good to see you back Chris! What all have you changed on the setup?
|
Nothing really changed.
Oringed the block, New pistons, new gaskets / bearings. This thing is pretty much fresh this time out. Hopefully I can get above 40psi this year. |
Gah deng that thing is nasty wicked.
|
Slow
|
Holy fucking FMIC Batman! Impressive!
|
Looks good. U still in the Beaufort area?
|
Thanks guys.
I'm in Havelock, NC now. I still come down to a few track that are near the NC /SC boarder. I mainly hit Fayetteville or Rockingham now. |
It runs:
http://youtu.be/tKnKYxLlVH4 Took me about 10 minutes to get it to idle and went from there. Idled it for about 5 minutes, tested launch control, made 20psi and let idle for about another 15 minutes. |
Nice! Now we need some track vids!

spam again

Well first track day out I smashed it into the wall at about 110. I was running at Kinston Dragway on the lowest boost settings I could get out of it. It spun pretty bad and blew the cross shaft out of the diff in the rear.
So about a week after that I had it all back together with a new front end /tube setup. Took the thing to the DSM shootout in OHIO. First test pass out it strips 1st gear out destrying the input shaft with it. Fuck it.. I build a transmission at the track. Get it back out for a test pass and at the top of 2nd it blows a brush out of the weldon fuel pump and the ring gear on the flywheel pops out.. WTF After that I went to pa for some faimly time. Some friends and I fixed the car and took it out to pittsburgh raceway park. First pass 11.4@13 just checking the car 2nd pass 9.9@150 On the junk ass trans I built at the shootout. Had to let out twice. 3rd pass. Shifter cable popped off somehow. So fuck it I'm currently swaping it over to an auto. I have almost everything done Just need to get some Nitrous hooked up. Video from Pittsburgh. http://youtu.be/hMqPL6Z_5Ag |
