168k mile junk LS1 motor
I was going through some OLD folders today and found this video of an old car of mine. Stock 50k mile motor spun a bearing (famous LS1 problem) so I found this old ass motor with almost 170k miles on it at F-body motorsports near Charlotte. Billy took me up there to pick it up and in 1 night, with the several peoples help (but PJ and I working around the clock), took the old motor/trans out, put the new rod bolts/heads/cam/intake motor/trans back in and had it running the next morning.
Video http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...h_MOV00699.jpg The rings were shot as you can see it smoke after a full throttle pull. So I had to kind of clean it out with a few revs in between pulls. With Lorenz's help, the car ran strong and made great power for an old @ss junk motor. The original tuner had it making 465/412 Rear wheel but the car was utterly un-driveable in stop and go traffic. Lorenz worked his juju on it and made it 95% better and on this day it made 445/390 Rear wheel if I'm not mistaken. It had a hole in the tune somewhere but he never had a chance to get it perfect before he closed up shop and moved home. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...mInstall26.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...mInstall39.jpg |
Nice! A few people around here have done pretty darn well with "donkey" junkyard motors.
|
Damn donkey motas.

I saw that car a few weeks ago. K.J. has it now.

Does he do anything with the car? I have not seen that car since Marvin traded it in on the Beamer. I figured that car was sent off to auction or something by now, never to be seen again. :D |

I remember when you and Marvin swapped cars, but kept your motors, by doing the swap........

 I'd park my shit in the shed if I was riding around in a mustang with Fats/skinnies (slicks at that), spraying and got Monkey stomped whoa, whoa, whoa, scratch that............... make that DONKEY STOMPED by a 400,000 mile N/A 5.3 Tahoe motor stuffed into a four-eyed freak. Does that technically make Shawn's car a hybrid? hmmmmmmmm, Tax write-off :D |

I knew a guy who years ago (in N.C.) had the Grave Digger style scheme under his hood and everyone he beat grudge racing had their name put on a tombstone in a graveyard setting. P-R-E-T-T-Y ballsy! I'll tell you one of the things I "really" like about Shawns car is it sounds totally different from all other LS1 cars. Like the car in the video I posted in the first post. The 4" Mufflex system with the single Race Series Flowmaster; I fell in love with that catback because it sounded so much better than everything out on the market. Almost all catbacks available to LS-motored F-bodies sound basically ALL THE SAME! The car I posted in the vid on the dyno and Shawns sound completely different from others. |

Damn you. Damn you straight to hell.

Thats FKD up Ian! :Finger2:

What no animal style?
|
I know man. Sorry but I had to! Didn't know they came this far east and was excited they do!
I will bring some down with me when I head that way soon as retribution! No animal style this time. Had to keep it clean for the photo shoot. Some of the members here have never partaken in the vast enjoyment and ecstasy as they savor the taste of a double double. So had to make sure it looked good! |
