How close is your house to the road?

ForceFed4g63 09-18-2012 02:40 PM

I heard about this on the radio this morning. How asinine is this? WTF is the point of being able to have a gun to protect your home if you can't use it because it's too close to a road? This guy is an idiot.

chrisheltra 09-18-2012 02:46 PM

LOL@thatguy

LXtasy 09-18-2012 02:58 PM

Now that is a new way to prevent you from protecting yourself on your property. Another form of gun control

Bradleyrj 09-18-2012 03:06 PM

That sucks!

silver455 09-18-2012 03:36 PM

its total bs but who is not going to shoot an intruder in the face because they don't want to pay the 500 fine?....when they come to investigate write'em a post dated check and tell'em to blow it out their arse

snakeplissken 09-18-2012 03:42 PM

I'll go out on a limb here and say that if you shoot an intruder I'm pretty sure L.C. isn't going to arrest you.

ForceFed4g63 09-18-2012 03:49 PM

This legislation will never see the light of day. No one is going to approve a bill that so obviously contradicts the Constitution, especially not in SC lol.

Silver-Dollar 09-18-2012 04:08 PM

meant for the hunters who run dogs that hang out on the side of the road.

LXtasy 09-18-2012 04:20 PM

It may be meant for hunters (even though it doesnt say hunters) but it will be used for other purposes if need be

If your out shooting in your back yard 2 miles from a road and you have a neighbor that complains they can get you now. I'm with snake and silver, I think its for the hunters. I work with a couple guys that have some stories about steel shot in their car because of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

ForceFed4g63 09-18-2012 04:26 PM

If it really is for hunters that is a terribly written piece of legislation.

chrisheltra 09-18-2012 04:26 PM

It may be directed at hunters but it applys to everyone in dorchester county thats within 500 feet of a public road in a residentialy zoned area..

You can't discharge firearms in a residential area anyway.

Right but there's no exception for home defense.

Darryl Buckner 09-18-2012 05:19 PM

I didn't catch the whole thing on the news last night, but they were talking also about banning air rifles in Dorchester County under some fire arms act. Last I checked an air rifle isn't a fire arm. But I just got part of the story..

Illusions 09-18-2012 06:22 PM

Its being past so the gangs will know its illegal to do drive by shootings... think they will care. And who is going to put who in chains if they get elected?

schardbody 09-18-2012 07:04 PM

Doesn't constitutional rights still overrule in the right to bare arms to defend ourselves or our property?

The NRA is virtually non-existent in SC when it comes to fighting for gun rights unfortunatelly. Grassroots is probably who got involved. They are big in SC.....

Grassroots may have been involved on some level but the NRA was here getting involved, it's not debatable lol.

Forcefully owned.

Silver-Dollar 10-02-2012 09:12 PM

One of the councilmen was on 94.3. Said it was craptastically written. It cannot superceed state law in regards to protecting oneself from animal or man.
